I'll bet $100000 (that I don't even have) that he had no idea what was going to happen. Even most republican activists don't know how these goon squads operate.
I didn't know myself till I saw some of this stuff firsthand.
I've encountered my fair share of the opposition over the years - but this type of public display is not something I have ever encountered.
I survived the threats left on my answering machine, innuendos that I was sleeping with legislators for votes on bills, and verbal altercations in the capitol building - but nothing like what is going on now.
We all made it unscathed. I've been at work since 6 am. Yuck
I am waiting to here from friends who evacuated. I know they are fine but I don't know their property outcome nor do they.
Daughter and SIL's house they just closed on is untouched. Baby Brother in Pensacola lost every tree and has minor roof leak but says the golf course looks like a war zone.
We spent most of the day outside watching and drinking beer of course. Appreciate the concern, sorry we didn't check in earlier but we wanted to wait till the dang thing was over.

while i would take xskids to a Bush-Cheney rally in this area, i would NOT take them to any sort of mixed event, or where i knew that a large number of Kerry supporters would be. I'm upset with the number of FReepers upset at the Dem goon. A common way to improve one's talents is to take on an opponent better than you. Tennis players, golfers, even musicians jamming know that they will better their skills in the presence of superiors. All Kerry's guy did was challenge himself.

A paul krugman article, a helen thomas article, Nicholas Benton, editorial by the red-diaper editor of the piece of crap paper and Moron's letter to his constituents.
It is expected to stall up your way. That baby is packing rain. We had over 10 inches of rain from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm at the LECG estate. The creek behind our house was up 4 feet which is the highest we have seen it. Needed to rise 6 more feet to even touch the lowest part of our back yard. Thank goodness we live on a slope.
flood watch for the Potomac through Sunday PM. we live quit a ways uphill from the creek, and, luckily, if it floods, there is a back way out of the neighborhood.
Sillycargo seems OK. Lots of Talladega county lost trees trees and trees. A volunteer fireman in Talladega County was killed in his pickup truck when a tree fell on it. Auburn and Opelika seem OK at least as far as I've heard.
We stood on the deck and watched the creek rise.
xskids are disappointed in Ivan, since last Sept they got 3 days off of school for Isabelle.
