I feel as though they should ban smoking in all night clubs, so that people can go and enjoy themselves without having to smell like smoke after walking out of the night club or having the fear of second hand smoke later in life. Even if they do sell alcohol, set aside a place outside for the smokers to smoke. Over half of the club do not smoke, if you were to do apoll on the people that were in the club and put all non-smokers to one side and the smokers to another side, you would have a great deal of non-smokers on one side and a handfull on the other side. But witht hat handfull of smokers, it still makes the area of the club which is closed in fullo of smoke that we have to breathe. So don't just pass a law for the bars, and resturants, pass it for all places. We need to get on the ball liek California, you can't smoke there and it has not hurt their businesses. Something to think about

Okay...........shred a head of cabbage, add about 3-4 heaping tablespoons of HELLMAN'S mayonnaise, add 3 tablespoons of sugar,a pinch of salt, vinegar to taste,a little milk (couple of teaspoons,or so),some chopped green and/or red bell peppers and some thin carrot shavings,a couple of dashes of celery seeds, cover and refrigerate at least 3 three hours to over night.

You're right....it IS awful!
And I forgot an ingredient in mine.... 1/2 a teaspoon of Coleman's English mustard;the powdered kind.
To: HawkeyeLonewolf
17 years was just a number I threw out, it is actually more than 20 years.
The second part of my question is not irrelevant. You are the one who claimed as much if not more time as me on this issue. So what have you done to promote your "conservative" idea that smoking bans are a conservative point of view?
Your point is not as validly conservative as mine - I am squarely on the side of the rights of the business owner, you are on the side of even MORE government regulation.

Now that's a cole slaw recipe. Here's mine. Turn left at the end of the driveway. Go two blocks, turn left. Go about a mile, turn right onto I295 South. Keep going until you run out of gas. When Billy Bob stops to offer you a ride to the gas station, tell him to take you to his favorite bbq instead.

Uh-huh. My support for the rights of private business owners to do with their businesses as they wish, and allow customers to engage in the use of legal product on their property is such a leftist belief that, by golly, me and the 100,00 other people on this site are just liberals in disguise. Only you, with your superior intellect, is a Real Conservative...
Ooooookay. Put down the hash pipe, son.

anyone who doesn't agree with him is wrong.
I myself have a variety of positions that are not accepted conservative dogma, and I debate them here strongly. But I don't drop into a thread, declare conservative dogma to be changed because I say so, and shut off further debate because the matter is "settled".
People here are willing to debate conservative dogma if you have the juice to back up your words, but the above tactics will gain one ZERO respect and advance one's position ZERO. If individuals want to come here and gain ZERO respect and advance their positions ZERO then hey, its their waste of time not mine.
Normally length of time on site isn't a factor with me. But I'm amused when someone who has been here a month claims that an issue has been hashed out and conservative dogma changed in his favor when EVERYONE knows that it has not. I'm amused when a poster thinks that the old "then you must be a liberal" fallacy actually advances their position when in reality its a white flag that says "I just lost an argument".
Most new posters get it and start to earn some respect after a while even if they have non-conventional views on some things. But some don't.

ROTFLMSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's much easier than what I went through,to serve a dinner of BBQed baby back ribs, french fries, cole slaw, and Key Lime pie tonight. And yes,ALL made from scratch.:-)
To: Gabz
Sorry Gabz.......I love you to death, but your slaw recipe looks awful. :-(

*SIGH*
I simply pointed out that MY view was equally conservative. Which is true.
We require businesses to meet building codes.
We require businesses not to restrict service based on race, sex, etc.
We require businesses to provide safety exits.
We can require businesses to provide a normal breathing environment untainted by the selfish desires of a few. Secondhand smoke DOES affect the health of others even if for the short term only.
We were born not to breathe in such and no one should have their God-given right to breathe properly trampled by those who choose to breathe dirty air.
Not a one of these requirements is liberal in nature. If a business owner doesn't like basic common sense restrictions, then they can choose to operate elsewhere.
Now again, I respect the conservative pro-smoking view as conservative. However, I have shown how good conservatives can oppose smoking without being labelled liberal by those who disagree.
So all your screaming and whining will not change the fact that this is a conservative view. You can cry about private property rights, but there are valid restrictions to private property rights all that time -- for the common defense or the general welfare of all.

Not to those who have been paying attention.
I simply stated anti-smoking was not exclusive liberal -- conservatives hold anti-smoking views as well.
For this, I've been berated, misquoted, and maligned.

"promote the general welfare" What are you talking about?????????
I ask a question and this is how you answer it?
If you don't like smoking stay out of establishments that permit or speak to the owner about his/her smoking policy or else OPEN YOUR OWN that meets with your peronal positions.
