Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Back from music night yet?
I went to the Bible study. It was a nice change of pace, I'm glad I went. Now, it's back to the code mines...

The snorkel is really cool... one of my best friends used to drive one as a navy corpsman with the Marines... drove the ambulance model. It had a soft top over the front seats that they usually drove with open and rolled back.
He used to tell a great story of driving his ambulance off the landing craft onto the beach in Okinawa during war games... seemed they always seemed to drop him off in about eight feet of water... he'd drive off the LCVP using the hand throttle, standing on the seat, steering with his foot, standing up holding onto the windshield with both hands... and SPLOOSH... up to his chest in water but that thing would splash and claw its way up onto the beach nonetheless. Watta ma-chine.
Gotta love it. I want one. :-)

The flooding in my neighborhood made the local news. :-)

Do we seriesly want to pursue this? Guys, I don't wanna sound like I'm braggin' (I'd never do that ya know). But just reading thru the posts, I know of two possible avenues to get "there."
Let me ponder it a bit.

Color Corin important! ;o)
Seriesly, that would be vey exciting! But it would be better to wait until he's finished his second term so he can keep it as a personal gift. If we gave it to him while he's in office, doesn't he have to put it in his Presidential Library?

Well, Brush hog guy came and made a lot of progress... not as much as I hoped, because he brought a standard brush hog, not the bigger machine mentioned in conversation.... Harumph. Oh well.... It's OK for him to not chew up all the small trees, because it has a nice shady closed in feel now. He opened up a lot of ground but he didn't 'finish'. He ran out of daylight. There is still more he can do tomorrow. Considerable time today was spent head-scratching about a burned out clutch, so hopefully, the price for finishing tomorrow will still be what we agreed to, which I am not sure I even recall. We'll see. ;~D
Regardless, he did what would have been a lot of work for us :~D
Before shot (from this spring)... note the group of small alders center-right there for reference, and the brush beyond:

These trees in the foreground are those small alders.

This is the other side of the same area before:

We stopped taking pictures when we ran out of light, and he worked awhile in the dark. Won't know what it really looks like till morning, except that it's all chewed up ;~D

Nah, Corin's not important. He has, however, been fortunate enough in his life to work for some important people.
Let's think this thru...now or later...let me know.

I think you can count on that for the next 60 or so days.

Seems like the trolls are out in force lately. Election fever has overtaken them.
Gotta feel sorry for them. They've nominated somebody that even they don't like very much, and the angst is driving them out of their admittedly small minds. Bummer. My commpassionate conservative self really feels bad. [snif] but not that bad. :-)

Yeah, I know, but I'd like to play with trolls now and then and I always find the threads after 500 replies...
Maybe I'll just go lurk at the wacky Religion Forum thread (meese and cheese have nothing on this one) and then to bed.
