Do you know what a "day light" basement is?Check to see if it has a door to the outside, or if it's a bulkhead. It must at least have lots of windows, so it won't be like a cave down there in the middle of the day.

I doesn't have pictures. Why do they call it a basement if it's not in the ground? Lot's of windows doesn't sound good for a tornado shelter/wine cellar. :)

Why do they call it a basement if it's not in the ground? My guess is that if the floor is halfway below grade, it can be called a basement. Our basement is a walk out, but only the area right at the back door is truly completely out of the ground. On the front, both sides and part of the back, it is almost totally below grade.

OB here, concur with the explanations posted above about the "daylight" basement. Could also refer to the size of the windows, placement ets.
Most all of ours are pretty good sized 20" high and 40" inches long. I replaced the old three pain glass windows with sliders. Built in screen. Have a total of seven windows. Pretty good light during the day.

Time for proud momma pics!
The girls were playing with sidewalk chalk on the front porch and enjoying the first sunshine we've had in days.

Everyone must be off enjoying the day. Well, I put my time in, now I'm going to have fun too!
I'm going to walk to a bookstore. It's such a gorgeous day here, I feel like walking to the mountains but that's a little impractical.
