Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We had to do that! The Americaunas fly! We had to make a run with a top on it, fercyrin'outloud!
But we don't want them to forget they are pets, so we keep those plastic chairs in there, and the jedis and I (mostly I) sit in there and pet them!
BH and RB just love me...will hop up on my lap and sit there cooing. They are so sweet. You know how a dog will come and just shake water all over you and although it's a bit annoying, you don't really mind 'cause they are such a good dog? Well, my chickens will come and sit on me and then shake and dust will just fly everywhere from where they had filled their feathers with dirt. I get a bit filthy, but it falls right off (it's just sand).

Well, all this chicken talk and egg-citement has got me overcome with weariness.
I'm off to bed! Night all.

Evening, all... just got home from a dinnermoot with Wneighbor, who was visiting daughter and new son-in-law in Austin this weekend. Had a nice visit and got all caught up!
Dinner was pretty nice too, mmmm....
Glad to hear from most of our Florida contingent! Hope we hear from the rest soon!
To: JenB
No, haven't seen it yet! Recorded it though, will probably watch it tomorrow. No spoilers, please! ;)
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
No spoilers, except that one team was eaten by wild dingos.

Funny thing is, they were in Mongolia at the time. Wonder why we never heard about the Rabid Dingos of Outer Mongolia before? Also the yak-butter challenge was one for the records.
Joking, of course. This leg went to a place we've seen I think every previous race... I'm getting tired of visiting, actually. Why can't they go somewhere really new evey time?

I think the parts of the world amenable to Americans running around being filmed doing silly things are few and far between....
Nuts, I keep yawning my fool head off. Guess I'd better go to bed... have a good night!

and there is always wallpaper. I only know how to take it down! Anyway, the last time I considered putting up wallpaper, I never could decide on a pattern so I just painted and put a border at the top.

Good Morning!
Heaven forfend Russia should return to its former state...indeed, any of its former states!
However, current conditions remind me that the main problems with the Sword of Stalin were that it was swung indiscriminately and on the basis of imaginary threats. Narrow the target, focus on real threats, and you've got something that we would do well to emulate.

Just got in from re-arranging the window boxes. Petunias and impatiens are enjoying a retirement home in the garden. Now I have sunny yellow and purple mums up front. I so love flowers.
(Is that too hobbity a confession for an elf-type to make?)

There was a nice thing on the History Channel last nite about the Russian Czars/Emperors. What a long, violent, tumultuous history they've had.
The other day, someone posted a news photo of Putin visiting the children in the hospital. He looked very striking (for a pasty-white Russian guy) dressed in all black. He had his hand out to touch the patient in bed and it occurred to me that he looked like a dark angel. I wondered if he would take up the sword and become an avenging angel. It wouldn't bother me in the least if Putin went and spruced up Chechnya a bit... in the old czaristic fashion. We wouldn't have the stomach for it, but the Russians might.
