The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

With three bedrooms and a garage, I'd think the lack of a basement would be liveable.

Heck, I can't even really use mine for storage, 'cause it's too damp, even though it's a nice finished basement. I'd much ruther have another bedroom!

If I remember right, my house was built the same year. Or maybe a year or so earlier. Early fifties, in any case.

I figured that a basement would only collect clutter even if it were finished.

My last house had 3 bedrooms. I had one as an office and used the other for storage and the cat-pan room. Since I've got a garage for the garden tools, I can have a guest bedroom.

Oh...and I want to put on a sunroom. Wonder how much that would cost.

Wonder why ranches dating from the 50's put those small windows near the top of the ceiling.

I'd keep an eye on it... if it gets infected, it will get a little pussy and swollen. Cat scratches seem to ~always~ get a little bit infected when I get them.... if it does, there is no harm in peeling the scab off so it can drain and use peroxide or Iodine on it. Dogs have better immune responses and can heal better than cats can. Let him lick on it unless she is making it into a larger sore.

I'm probably making a bigger deal of it than it is, since he doesn't seem to be in much pain. But I feel bad that it happened, just the same!

I'll be keeping an eye on it. Hope it just heals on its own.

How's Cyn? What's Bay think of her?

Hehehe....a few of those houses I looked at had riding mower sized yards. I asked the agent if I could take their lawn for a test mow to see if I could mow it in one day.
