The Hobbit Hole XV - Pass them by! Pass them by!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Pass them by! Pass them by!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Matthew is that way in the evening...suddenly gets a burst of energy. I was that way too, for many years...which is why I was a 3-11 nurse!

A brass band in the room wouldn't wake Joshua...no kidding...I've gone in to find Matthew belting out some tune with a CD he's listening to at the top of his lungs and Josh is sound asleep.

I did not know that about boiled eggs!

I redownloaded FMA #50 last night. The one I had was a smaller file so the picture was real fuzzy and the subtitles were hard to read. So I got the SS version.

I'm having trouble finding Madlax 26 so if you see it in your travels please send me a link.

I'm downloading Monster and Soukyuu No Fafner as new series to start watching.

I just drove home.

I notice that nobody much in this neighborhood has bothered to take down their hurricane shutters. Everyone is kind of laying low, it seems.

Ever figure out what kind of spider that monster was?

I think that if you bore a small hole in the eggs before boiling them, they may not explode?

Have you let your kids see it yet? The cliffhanger's still evil...

Did Madlax 26 come after the licensing announcement? That's probably why. What's Monster about?

I think I'm going to teach my friends about anime with some help from Fruits Basket...

I watched a couple more episodes of FMA last night. I'm up to (I think) 47.

How they're going to finish the story with just a couple more episodes, I can't imagine!

Yeah, Madlax 26 was after the licensing announcement, which ought to be against Anime etiquette. But that doesn't stop some people......

Monster is about a Dr in Germany who saves a child's life and then mysterious murders start happening. From what I understand it is not for family viewing. I already told the kids they weren't watching it. I haven't seen any of the episodes I've downloaded yet though.

I haven't seen any Fruits Baskets yet.

Well, based on Ep 50 I can think of a couple truly evil ways they could end the story.

Or, they can fall back on the classics: "It was all just a dream", "An asteroid wipes out civilization" or "The fairy godmother makes things better".

Just wait until you see #50.

Oh, JenB, I did let the kids watch #50 and they said afterwards that they should have listened to me and waited. But hey, at least now I don't have to suffer alone. ;^)

My wife actually said she wouldn't mind watching the raw version just to see what happens next.

(4 days til #51!)

Or a la Scrapped princess - "This isn't the real world...it's a simulated world, which is why alchemy works."

Or something like that.

Fruits Basket is licensed so you'd have to buy/rent it, but it's worth it. The whole 26 ep series comes on four dvds, so it's cheaper than a lot of anime. It's beautiful and mostly ok for kids... depending on the kid. There are some - ok, there are a couple characters who get over the top and a little crossdressing, but it's such a lovely show.

(Download Full Moon wo Sagashite. Unlicensed. Nice for the whole family. Catchy tunes.)

Go sit in Took's corner for that.

2J figured it was a Garden Orb Spider. Big, but basically harmless (and actually beneficial).

I'm torn about the raw. I'd like to make sure that you know who isn't you know what. But I'll miss so much...
