Oh, it's a hilarious story!

I was forced to go and hang out with my cousin and her friends who were older and into rap music. Blech! We all drove to the lake where they have a boardwalk and a small building with a pool table and concession stand, etc inside.

Well, I decided to go for a walk and when I returned, my cousin had ditched me. I looked everywhere and couldn't find her.

About that time, I noticed a very weird looking guy following me and I freaked out. So, being 15 and too stupid to think about danger, I eyed the parking lot to see if I could see anyone who looked approachable, so I could pretend I was hanging out with them.

Across from where I was standing, I saw 3 guys hanging out in the back of a pickup truck with big speakers in the bed blasting Led Zeppelin. Since I was a rocker chick, I felt safe with those guys for some reason and took off on a dead run across the lot, jumped headfirst into the back of the truck and laid down flat to get outta eyeshot of the weirdo.

It was Thom's truck I jumped into, and after his inital shock of having a strange girl come barreling out of nowhere and jumping in the truck, he and I formally introduced ourselves and he explained that the guy following me was simlpy a mentally ill fella who follows everyone around. *blushing*

Oh yeah, then we left to food at McDonalds and when I got back to the lake, my cousin was there. She had the nerve to be mad at ME for leaving the lake! Pffft!

Thom introduced himself and asked for their address so he could come by and visit me the next day. Well, I was leaving the next day so he came over early, we exchanged addresses and phone numbers and that was that!

And from there, began a wonderful friendship that has lasted over a decade.

Can't say I know. Wish I knew the reverse. Been trying to figure that one out for a number of years now. So far my only good luck seems to be... er... here.

That is a really cool story. You just never know when you might come across a new life long friend.

Most of them are too young to be looking...and strangely enough, the younger kids have no shortage of friends.

Seriesly, we had almost no families with kids my age that we associated with when I was growing up. Their oldest kids were usually the same age as my 22 yo brother, or younger. And it's the same way now - there are LOTS of families in the parish that are a bit younger. Dunno why that is, but it is!

I believe it was a divine ordinance that led us to meet.

He's been a rock solid friend thoughout my rocky life and those are very hard to come by simply by chance.

By the way... didn't we introduce you two a couple weeks back? Shouldn't you be at least considering backgammon at this point?

;-)

Heh...I like this picture. Too funny!

The guy second from the right is about the same build as my brother Bilbo's friend Greg...he's about six foot four. Gets around surprisingly well for such a hugh guy...but man, he's like a walking wall!

LOL! Ruthy, you crack me up! That's quite an adventure!

When I think back as to how badly that could have turned out, I am so grateful that God was watching me before I knew He was!

But the moral of the story is: You may find what you need in the most unlikely way.

That I my main man Mike. He is about that tall. Let me tell ya, I never got any strange looks as a foreigner in Japan because they were all staring at him.

Am I wearing the same shirt? Ok I like that shirt.

There's nothing wrong with a favorite shirt.

Until it starts walking on its own. ;-)

Like through a conversation that originally started as a discussion of a crazy guy buildin' his own hobbit hole? ;-)

Abso-tively posi-lutely!

Sorry I disappeared for a bit. Alyson woke up in a sweat and I had to be sure she didn't have a fever.

She's settled back in bed nicely. She wanted me to put on The Wiggles again.

I think Corin mentioned a while back that his wife thought one of the fellas was cute. I think I've gone over the edge too, because I think Greg is just adorable!

But then that's still the same people.

Tell them to bring other friends who may not be into anime. Might be able to recruit a whole new group of fans!

I met SSQ through a church music activity. We knew immediately that we had two important (to us) things in common.

Heh... good idea... my problem is, I might meet someone who shares one thing in common with me, but two? If I meet them at school, they're probably geeky; if I met someone at church, it's likely we'd have the same religious background; but both at the same time?

I hope I'm not getting sick. I feel very hot and the single glass of wine went straight to my head...

I'm just shaking my head and laughing here...

If Barney starts to look attractive to you...we may have to stage an intervention, k?

Heh...though I admit I used to watch Zaboomafoo partly 'cause I thought one of the brothers was kinda cute.
