Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Pass them by! Pass them by!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Being a GRITS or not should have nothing to do with it; this Yankee was taught that if you have guests, you feed them first. You eat if there's enough extra.

Sounds like you need a Wizard to give you a little nudge out the door! ;o) He's late!
Yeah, yeah, I know...a wizard is never late.

Yup. We've seen each other three times in RL.
Once when we met when I was 15 and visiting family in Ohio.
The next was back in 92-ish when I went up to visit for a week. No worries, chica - NOTHING happened. ;-)
And finally was when he came down in 94 for the 1995 New Year and my then boyfriend (then husband, now ex) was completely rude and drove poor Thomas away. Grrrr...
But Thom is one of my nearest and dearest friends to this day. EVen though I've managed to screw up my life more than he has his! *grin*

David called last night from a Bus Stop in Austin saying that he's reconsidering buying a car. He was on the way to a party, got on the wrong bus, then had to wait almost an hour for another one going in the right direction. He was truly bummed! Seems he can get everywhere he NEEDS to go; school, grocery store (though with a good bit of hassle) on the bus, but can't really do much socializing because the buses stop running before midnight! He planned to get a ride home last night, but hates to put people out.
We told him we'd help him buy a car and just put it on the tab! He can repay us when he gets a job. I tried to convince him to get a car before he left, but he was sure he could do without one. Turns out he can't. He's making some friends in the Department, so that's good. I think he at least knew two people at the school before he got there, so it wasn't as bad for him as it has been for you. I'm keeping you in my prayers, hon. Why don't you host a party for some fellow students at your place? At least you'd get some return invites from it.

One thing I really like about anime is you never know what the ending might be. Sure a happy ending highly possible but they might throw you a curve.
To: RMDupree
He's certainly not bad looking...but if he ain't Catholic...well... *shrug*
I know...how about we have a Matchmoot, and everyone can bring several friends to meet other single Hobbit Holers...unfortunately all I gots to offer is brudders, but... ;-)
I'm only half kidding. Well...three-quarters, maybe.
There's another family here I WISH I knew a bit better, for Jen's sake...they're friends of my friend that got married. Presbyterian (very conservative), homeschoolers, have several boys in their twenties who are studying in various computer fields, very good lookin' guys...
Though...I kinda think they're the sort that would NOT be into anime or anything of the kind, so maybe not.

Ah...I was wondering how you'd gotten to know someone in OH, since I thought I remembered your saying he'd actually grown up there, not just moved there.
How did you guys meet?

Is it mean to say I like having friends that make me look small? I am the only under 6footer on the left end.

The buses here stop running at 6:30, so you really have to have a car! I'm proud of my little car, too; I bought it all on my own and I'm glad of it. I'm pretty independent these days; Mom and Dad keep me on their auto insurance policy because that would bust my meager budget, but everything else is my responsibility.
A party's kind of a good idea, but I don't really like parties... I am thinking of hosting a "Fruits Basket" anime weekend up at school. Half the club wants to see it and I have lovely dvds. But then that's still the same people.
Completely clueless time here - how does a girl go about meeting guys, anyway? And nobody say "bars"...

Happy ending or no, there were a few tears in my eye at the end. Probably because it ended just the way I wanted it to end! ;-)

Heh...that's about what I'm wondering. My first idea is church, but there really aren't many opportunities for socializing, unfortunately. There are groups for families, and classes for kids...but not much else. If I was more of a leader, I'd look into starting something, but I also get the impression it'd just be me and my brothers and a couple of 18 or 19 year old girls. Ehhhh...

When you let envio wienies determine policy this happens. When the tree blight came they were not allowed to cut new logging roads to get the dead ones out and so it spread and thousands of acres are dead just like this.
