Eleventh Thread: Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Hello all! Home now from Portland...
Saw A LOT of Bush/Cheney signs and bumper stickers and NO large Kerry signs between here and Portland Oregon. But SW WA is probably more conservative even than the Eastern WA area. Loggers are better rednecks than other kinds of farmers, in my experience!
Really... Good Omens is vey twisted. Sort of a black comedy, Apocolypse-ish story. The AntiChrist is a ten year old kid, the Four Horsemen commandeer motorcyles (and Death TALKS LIKE THIS), it's all very British. And funny.
Sigh... I've asked you this before but I forgot... have you got episode 43 of FMA or is that where you start needing them again?
I really am gonna burn them... darn, left the cds at work. Guess I'm gonna burn them tomorrow.
Hey there... [sip]
whoooeeeey. Dang, whatta coupla days. [sip] I'm not sure how long I can keep up this pace. [sip]
speaking of signs... I've been sorta doing a freeway-bumper-sticker poll. around bellevue there's about even Bush/Kerry stickers. On i-5 south of seattle, it seems like there's 3-1 kerry stickers to Bush. But even so... I have to say that I'm surpised at the relative lack of stickers.
I am off tomorrow - No hospice work, day off.
Tomorrow I want to start on building another stall in the barn for ecurbh's horse, and figure out how to do that when there is 3 tons of hay in the way.
Hospice? Is that for, you know, old dying people or people recovering from illnesses?
It's for people that are terminal and dying, yes. That is the temp job I've been doing this last month in the morning... I just answer the phones.
Mmm. I can't imagine working at a place like that. I didn't remember you saying before that it was a hospice - for some reason I thought it was the headquarters of a construction-firm sort of place. Wonder why I thought that?
Well, no real time to program before club. So no guilt about just having a little fun...
Not everyone can do it, but the people who do that work love it. Dying is an unavoidable part of life that they feel really good helping families get through. The place I work for is part of the larger Catholic Hospital system, and they offer chaplains and spiritual guidance as well as nursing and medicines and comfort care all at home. If we aren't lucky enough to get hit by a truck when it is our time to go, they help ease the suffering of slower fates.
They're a GodSend no doubt about it!
I guess it would be the families I would have a hard time dealing with. How do you even help people get through that? I'm glad there are people who can do it.
And with such cheerful thoughts, I am off. BBL!
I'm still hoping for something to happen in Michigan...the 'rat Guv and mostly 'rat state house monkeyed with the property taxes to get revenue earlier...most ppl I know, inluding my mom, budget around the schedule as it has been, and coming up with the not-really-additional-but-earlier-than-expected assessment will be a burden. Statehouse heffalumps have been publicly oppositional, and that may get some traction.
The map may not be all that accurate. Sean said several states have been given up...no more 'rat ad buys...because W has double-digit leads in them; one of the ones mentioned was AZ.
But see, no matter HOW bad my life gets, the characters in Hardy always have it much, MUCH worse. So...it's comforting stuff!
Heh...I went through a horrible, horrible down time when I was in Germany. I had just started my second tour, all my friends were leaving, I was terribly homesick and lonely, and I just had trouble even functioning...all I wanted to do was sleep. But I read Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Jude the Obscure and suddenly realized what a WONDERFUL life I had!
Death is SHOUTING MAN?
Actually, looking at it...44 is the last one I have. I had thought 43, but I wuz wrong.
Hey - g'nad's state is ~pink~...
Here's the latest happy thought in my life...
Ohfercryinoutloud.
Is there still time for her to change her mind?
I still have no idea how Kerry has a toehold in Florida.
Now I ~really~ hope all these hurricanes scare the Condo Communists outta here!
