Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Sticklebats...the 50 post pages are back...this place is gettin' crowded.
See y'all later.
I'm listening to a police scanner in Mobile, online.

What county do you live in?
Thurston..... what's up?
Well, here in Tulsa, we have the Tulsa County Extension Agency. I found this for your area, maybe?

They just came on this scanner with special announcement. No "keyholders" will be responding to fire alarms because of the storm. Firemen or police are supposed to visually check for smoke or fire, if none seen, they leave.
Oh - thanks! Although, I have called them before on another issue and found them to be less than helpful. I wondered if there was someone who could walk through my woods and identify toxic plants that horses shouldn't eat. They had never been asked such a question and didn't know anyone who could do that. They suggested I buy a book on plants and look them up. Apparently, all 3000 plants in my woods. I thought a botanist would just ~know~.
Maybe they ~do~ know how to do this.
Yeah - I'm watching it too.
You listening to the scanner? Pretty interesting. Now they are to make sure that downed power lines aren't causing a problem, then otherwise leave them alone.
Shelters are closed and they can't find a place to put some guy...
No - I'm not listening..... following the CBS thing.
One of my coworkers is from New Orleans. He says nobody there was worried yet. They were all thrilled about getting a day off!
Hullo, back from everything. Did laundry, phoned home, got two bottles of wine and more movies. Now it's series coding time.
Prayer request for my family. My just younger sister, Joanne, and her husband, Rob, are living at our fishing camp in Gautier MS while they're looking for land to build a new house. It's just west of Pascagoula, but it's right on the Mary Walker Bayou within a mile of the MS Sound. They are going to stay on the coast, but go over to the Jackson County Courthouse in Pascagoula, about 4 miles across the causeway. P'goula is just about 10 miles west of the MS/AL line. They'll be on the western edge of the eyewall, unless the storm moves west, then they may be right in the thick of it! I think they'll be safe; it's a Civil Defense shelter. My baby sister also lives on the coast, but I haven't heard from her, so if y'all could send a few prayers for Joanne and Rob, and Tori and Eddie I'd appreciate it.
Oh, my! And they're not used to hurricanes out there, are they?
Many prayers for those in the Gulf. Our Gulf, this time.
Oh, they've been through plenty of hurricanes, but not a direct hit from a Category 4 storm so near to the Gulf. They rode out Hurricane Georges, which I think was a strong Category 2, a few years ago at Joanne's house. They could hear the tornados going overhead!
We experienced Camille in 1969, but we were in Hattiesburg, which is about 70 miles inland, and she was doing almost 125 mph when she came through there!
Ah yes, Inner Peace! LOL!
Anyway....I went back to that house with the screened porch this evening. The owners had replaced all the rottten boards on the screened porch and refinished all the hardwood floors! They'll probably raise the price so I can't afford it. But.....they haven't raised it yet so I'm going to make a bid on it. If the bid falls through, I'll try for 1198523.
Whaddya know....Miss Cat likes chipotle sauce.
couldn't evacuate New Orleans because they didn't have cars.
Reason #9,853 to have a car.
