Giuseppe Cannella had a big surprise for his mother-in-law when he put a jet engine on the back of her wheelchair.
Mr Cannella says the chair can now do top speeds of more than 60mph and has proved the star of a model plane championship during the Bank Holiday.
A model plane enthusiast himself, Mr Cannella has been putting on shows at Barkston Heath near Grantham, Lincs.
"It is just the wheelchair with the engine bolted on the back and steering on the front," he said.
Holiday surprise
"Originally it was a gimmick. I had a jet engine and I was going to put it on a go cart.
"But the missus says put it on something unusual and so I put it on the mother-in-law's wheelchair," said Mr Cannella, who is from Luton in Bedfordshire.
"She was on holiday at the time so she didn't know what I was doing until she came back.
"She actually thought I was doing it for her."
Mr Cannella's mother-in-law, who had bought a new wheelchair, has Parkinson's disease.
Her son-in-law has been collecting money for the Parkinson's Disease Society and hopes to collect up to £1,500 during the shows at the British Model Flying Association national championship.
"I have done it for fun, I just like going up and down in it," said Mr Cannella.
I've GOT to get me one of those. Yeeehaah!!
The snow globe or the JPWC?
Gotta split a while
Please wear a helmet. We need you in one piece!
Going out on the deck to yell at my neighbors.
Later
Does 60 Mph.
Might chew tires up ferociously, unless they're custom jobs.
Braking, hmm.
Wonder if it's got custom stoppage ability?
(I didn't notice any brakes mentioned.. 'course I didn't look specifically for that info.)
Both.
*chuckle*
Brakes? Just bolt on a couple three foot long metal bars, one on each side with a single bolt strategically placed in the center of each, and watch the sparks fly. Helmet and saftey belts are a must though. Maybe even a roll cage. LOL
LOL!
Would have to get pics of the sparks and such for posterity.
Chro-moly tubing roll cage, and five point safety harness.
Hmm.
That would be really cool to see.
It'd probably do well with some slightly larger tires with better tread and grip.
(Where's our forum car enthusiasts to help give ideas for this?)
< |:)~
I especially like the little steering wheel there.
Yes!
Meeks, your job in the vein of the FReepmobile: Mod out the jetchair mentioned in above article.
[Oh boy.. I'm SO toast for inspiring more bad ideas..]
hahahahaaaa! That was one of the most fun pics to make, I tell ya ! :^D
Honestly, I have zero talent with photoshop.
*chuckle*
So photoshopping stuff really is the arena of others.
(I'm merely weird, with odd inspiration for poems and sketches..)
I'm looking forward to see what comes from this thread.
Oh. A Freepmobile Chair, huh ? Ah'll hafta think about that."It's possible! It's possible!" :^D
Yuppers.
Idea from the Big Guy himself.
Bad Idea alert: It needs Brembro brakes.
Okay, I got it. A Super/Turbocharged Freeper chair for JR.
But what is that about "Brembro brakes" ???
Brembros are extremely tough extremely expensive brakes used in expensive high performance cars.
(Hear tell their brake discs glow red when stopping a fast car.)
Thy have excellent stopping grip and dissipate heat really well.
But, of course, the price is astronomical.
Ah, I see now. But, of course, the price is astronomical.
But, of course !
I won't concern myself with such trivialities as brakes. I just gotta get
the wheels turning. Stopping? That's someone else's job! LOL! :^D
LOL!
JR suggested long drag bars like sleds use.
Hmm.
I see. :^D
