MTV, ROLLING STONE and the rock and roll establishment -- past and present -- have cast their vote, and their man is John Kerry.
So on Sunday night when John Kerry's daughters were announced to speak at the annual MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, the MTV youth were expected to welcome his daughter's as pop culture princesses.
Instead, in an era of the unexpected, the daughters of the Democratic candidate were met with a resounding wall of boos at the filming in Miami.
From the moment Alexandra and Vanessa started speaking, the boos outweighed anything close to cheers, and the reaction turned worse when the daughters asked the VIACOM youth to vote for their father. So shocked by the reaction, the taller of the two daughters tried to 'shhhhhh' her peers to no avail.
Blame it on Katherine Harris!
Immediate calls for a recount emerged from the Kerry camp. 'They must have thought they were the Bush twins!' Lawyers have been called in to overturn the results and ABC'S NIGHTLINE is on the verge of doing wall to wall town hall meetings to try to talk America's youth back to their senses.
Calls to Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter, REM's Michael Stipe, Moby and MTV's Judy McGrath asking for an explanation were all left unreturned.
Developing...
I posted the video of the Kerry daughters getting booed on my blog. You can check it out here:

I don't think it was a disrespect to boo them. In that forum, if you agree with the message you are supposed to show enthusiasm. If you disagree with the message you show displeasure by booing. It's part of the territory, and that they are not familiar with their fathers policies doesn't wash.
If they are not familiar with their fathers policies they should not make a political statement. If they do, they open themselves up for this.
what did the blond tell her sister during the boos?
Kerry daughter tries to silence crowd.
I would have loved to have tuned in for that...
Well, I'll find a link today and watch it when I get out of work tonight. Maybe I'll save it an loop it for entertainment... :-)
its there now at o600 pdt 30/8/2004.
"Hang with it."
That sounds like a riddle. I give up -- what did the blond tell her sister during the boos?
Is she giving the crowd the finger?
I dunno. Physically, they both look a lot like Celine Dion to me.
No doubt they were booed because their father is far too conservative for the MTV crowd...
I never get tired of seeing that photo. Thanks. (Ms. Harris was one of those who got slammed for her looks by libs, bacck when she emerged onto the national scene, wasn't she? No one talks about her that way any more.)
