I received two emails today from the sun times out of london, both emails had the legitimate email address from biz@the-sun.co.uk, both emails contained the mm!beagle virus. Good thing I followed proper protocol and scanned them because I often receive email from them.
Good update. It's good to know.
So how do you do the scan thing? I think my computer is set up to automatically scan these things because I get a message about no virus found. I'm so paranoid that I immediately delete any email that I can't identify.
The last three days, I have received multiple emails that contained viruses. Fortunately, my McAfee caught them. Never had this happen before.
Most have come as if they are emails I sent to someone and then were bounced back to me.
Maybe I should pay more attention and see if this are coming from the same site.
Well for one thing I use yahoo, or similar services for all commercial email, that way I keep spam to a minimum in my email box. Secondly I scan with there internet virus detector then I import them to outlook and rescan them with McAfee.
You know, it is pretty easy to spoof the "from" address with some email programs.
yeah, but thats not really the point. If you receive an email from a reputable source with a reputable address, most people assume that its good. This is an example of why that isnt necessarily true
Thank you.
Thanks for the heads up.
Use mailwasher and bounce all unwanted mail from the server BEFORE you even download them.
