Protesters plan to wreck the GOP website during the convention.

Several left wing groups plan to wreck the Bush Cheney website during the Convention to block it's use during the convention. In a denial of service attack, the hacker floods the target server, using up as much bandwidth as possible.

I'll be very surprised if the site's ISP doesn't have its firewalls properly configured to stop a denial of service attack.

yes 1066AD, it is illegal to do this. Also I saw an activist on Foxnews. I THINK it was Sheperd Smith who interviewed her. He asked her about 6 times if her group opposed violent protest. She dodged the question each time.

I don't know anything about firewalls. I wonder if the bandwidth was increased would it minimize a Denial of Service attack

They should be turning back ICMP packets and header-only HTTP requests before they even reach the network.
