On Wednesday I installed a Kodak photo disk and it seems to make my computer go haywire. I uninstalled it, but I don't think it removed everything. I keep getting pop-ups from freegiftworld.com and shoplet.com, and I know FR doesn't have pop-ups. Also, I get a file download box trying to install a file called "search" from search.yahoo.com. I think you most likely have spy-ware on your machine. I'm not sure using the go back feature will help you with this problem. It might or might not.

What program do you use for a browser? Check and see in the tools or preference section what you have set for the first page you go to when you open the browser. Sometimes the browser settings have been hijacked.

You need to find a good spy-ware removal program. I have a firewall, (Zone Alarm) several spy-ware removal programs, Ad Aware is a good one and free for individual use and I use Firefox and Avant for browsers. Both kill pop-ups.

Rather than try to do a system restore, I think I'd just try running Spybot Search and Destroy and/or Ad-Aware. Either of those ought to get rid of that garbage. Make backups of vital data before running them, of course.

I agree, sounds like spyware. As noted, Spybot Search & Destroy is a great program for getting rid of spyware.
