I invite all who participate to listen up. This is a serious message to those of you who post here. I am a christian conservative and firmly adhere to conservative values. I am a grandmother to be and I want my grandchildren to live an America like I grew up in. I realize that this is impossible now and want to make a difference. I want to keep my family safe from terrorism and safe from the liberal ideology being forced upon us. In this presidential election, I know that George Bush is the only clear choice and am working hard to make that a reality. That said...
This saves me the trouble of emailing Jim Robinson for the definitions. Am actually in the process of compiling the terms. But what is ZOT? And what is a Freeper Canteen? Is that a real place?

If that is indeed the case:
What a pity that you, as a self-admitted newbie to both the internet and FR, decided you were experienced and savvy enough to condemn on the basis of a few posts or threads. Had you been slightly more thorough in your data-mining, you could have traced the posting history of even the most "childish" of those whom you castigate, and discovered that on NON-TROLL threads that person is usually quite cogent, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and polite.

Actually, this post is right on. I've been registered for 5 years and have seen this place degrade into just what KingsKindred explains - every newbie must be a troll.
And you two proved her point in the first two posts.

Good point. Sometimes you have to slowly ease into things. I lurked for a few years, posted for almost a couple, and I've yet to post a vanity. But when I first started posting I came on a thread with a BFO and boy did I get flamed! LOL! But it was a good initiation!

First let me say I do understand what you mean, although I have been on FreeRepublic since before 2000 election. Then I changed my screename for a couple of years, and have come back recently as Kackikat (the original). HOWEVER, this is a free speech forum, and we are not all republicans, some are libertarians, independents....some are very right wing conspiracy theorist (tin foil hat).
I have been accused from time to time of being a troll...just because I did not agree....noone agrees all the time. I just fought a real attack from the smokers on another thread, cause I thought the woman was wrong to defy the court order. I had 25 or more comments to defend. I could have gotten mad, but I defended my position. Next time they might be on my side on a different issue. People online say just what they are thinking and they can be cruel!
It is good though to discuss it, some end up being ar$e's, but you move on...sometimes you are attacked, really attacked, but considER the source, they were NOT taught how to defend their position, only to yell, scream and call names, like the bullies on the school bus- IGNORE THEM.
Many here have contributed to my knowledge, my attitude improvement and helped change my mind about some things with their ability to explain their position. It is a place to learn, find the news that the liberal media won't tell you, and a place to meet extraordinary people with whom you have common ground. I love FREEREPUBLIC, and even when I am called arrogant, troll or other names...then I know I am making a difference or they wouldn't be upset.
STAY, contribute, and know that you will be attacked, but it isn't what happens to us in life, but our reaction to it that counts the most. Hash it out, and if it gets too hot take a cold shower, and sometimes it just isn't worth arguing about. You will not grow as a conservative or as a christian if you don't express your opinions and have someone who can express theirs...IRON SHARPENS IRON, sometimes you get to be the sandpaper and sometimes you get sanded!

I'm a newby too, and decided right at the first to step lightly and get the feel of this place before I would want to dive in head first and start mixing it up with "the home folks". Just ain't neighborly! I love the banter between the participants and especially love the pictures and the comical replies. Ya'll got a good thing going here and some people just need to chill, have a beer, sit back and watch the show. I'm hughly series about this!
