We hear...That the GOP is reaching out to Kelsey Grammer, Lee Ann Womack, Kid Rock, Dennis Miller, Britney Spears, and country stars Brooks N' Dunn in hopes that they'll lend some star power to the Republican National Convention.

Huge mistake IMHO. Two years ago it wouldn't have been a bad idea. Britney's behavior has gotten increasingly bizarre lately, with the quickie Vegas marriage and even quicker anulment, then the engagement to an unemployed slacker who already has a wife and kids.
The only thing she would contribute is joke material for Letterman and Leno.
Well, those of us who've been saying "shut up and sing" for the last year shouldn't criticize performers when they take our advice.
Yes, I do know what the cartoon is, but what is meant by "South Park" Republican
Why do I get the feeling that some conservative just want the VOTES of South Park Republicans/Republican Party Reptiles and otherwise want us to just shove off for the next two years?
Of course you're right but I'm still hooked on that double standard.
Yea, I believe they ok'd the use of their songs but I saw a CMT or GAC interview where they said they get calls all the time from campaign wanting to use "Only in America"
Only in America wasn't played at the rally.
I agree that Reps shouldn't play the celebrity game, because it makes hypocrites out of us. We've been telling liberal entertainers to "shut up and sing," so why should we suddenly be hoping to get conservative entertainers on board?
Usually an younger type of person with strong dislike for liberals. They smoke, drink, cuss, usually non-religious and again, have a STRONG dislike for liberals. Did I mention they have a strong dislike for liberals?
I always wanted to see a bumper sticker that said "I'm a Complete Idiot and I Vote!"
Viva South Park, RPRs, good porn, and George W. Bush! :)
Well, it certainly wasn't "Holy War" lol.
KERRY/EDWARDS '04. Same thing.
She can discuss the sanctity of heterosexual marriage.
Here you go!
lol
You have a point about the "Lawrence Welk" image as negatively stereotyping conservatives or Republicans as out-of-touch, but I'm still uncomfortable dragging in performers just for the sake of image.
Other than Ahnold, I would tend to agree. Now if they want to provide entertainment during the convention, that's fine. But if I dismiss the rants of Susan Sarandon, Bono, Whoopi, and Michael Moore, I'm not about to applaud Dennis Miller, Jay Leno or any other conservative Hollywood types for doing the same thing. And the thought of Britney Spears appearing onstage, much less speaking, at the RNC is just plain dumb.
Country singer. Has a hit with the very smarmy "I Hope you Daaaaaaannnccce".
