We hear...That the GOP is reaching out to Kelsey Grammer, Lee Ann Womack, Kid Rock, Dennis Miller, Britney Spears, and country stars Brooks N' Dunn in hopes that they'll lend some star power to the Republican National Convention.

I'm a bit shocked that the GOP would look into bringing Britney Spears to the convention. That's too much and, I think, a very bad choice. Do we really want to see Britney onstage with her antics?

Right! Bring on more sluts and whores - male & female!
That will make the GOP look more like "the heart of America" won't it?

Britney Spears? Well that would make her a South Park Republican!

Brooks and Dunn already declined citing "impartiality".

And who says there's no difference between the parties? Er, wait a minute.

Jessica Simpson likes bush.

Do we really want to see Britney onstage with her antics? I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing her "antics"...

Kid Rock
Well, Republicans have got to go after the trailer trash vote. Bye bye country club, hello trailer park. It's the Big Tent concept.

Jessica Simpson likes bush.Uh, to clarify your statement, the last word should be capitalized, yes?

I think a Lee Ann Womack is a small Australian marsupial, related to the kangaroo.

Well Britney is hot. But seriously, using celebs only garner the "idiot" vote, but since they do vote I would rather have idiots who look to celebs for guidance to vote for Bush rather than Kerry, that is if they are able to find their local voting location.

The music of Brooks and Dunn was featured at the Davenport rally last week. It's disappointing that they won't step up to the plate.

I suspect that's why Dick Johnson starts off his column with "We hear" -as it is only rumor. I doubt very seriously that the RNC would select Ms. Spears to represent anything associated with this campaign. There's just no fit.

count me as a one that does not care if we play celeb vs. celeb.
This is not an election about who has the best celebrity endorsers, there are real issues that need to be defined.
This smells like Sept 10th politics to me.
I never bought Brittany's wholesome off-stage, slut on-stage bit and still contend that she'll be a non-performer in two years.

Brooks & Dunn works for me.
Britney Spears cancels that out. She may vote Republican, but he choice of how she "entertains" doesn't reflect much Republican attitude. I personally believe she had too much exposure (pun intended) and too much success and too much attention WAAAYY too early in her life. Her view of the world now is distorted compared with the rest of the USA and her age group.
