Mount Hayden
The scenic landmark below no longer exists. Do you know where it is and what it was named?

Common... give us the answer.
Could it be Historical/ archives_ Columbia_ upper_ celilo_ falls? LOL!
Well, yes it could (and I didn't add my usual admonishment not to check the source code!) But that's OK, this was just for fun. More commonly, this was part of the "Great Falls of the Columbia" that was covered by waters behind the Dalles Dam. In this anniversary year of the Lewis and Clark expedition, I just happened to think of it. (Last week's Geology Picture of the Week was of the Great Falls of the Potomac; I was also wondering how many "Great Falls" there actually are in the United States. Offhand I can think of the Great Falls of the Potomac, Cumberland, and Missouri, and former Great Falls of the Columbia, shown here.)
OK, OK, I'm leaving...
I like it!
There are apparently no "Great Falls" in Ireland (I Googled to check), but if there were, they would be the Great Falls of Eire.
I have seen the lava flow into the water, smelled the sulpher in the air, and felt the incredible heat. Thanks for the photo.
You got me to wondering...
...so here is another one:
"In 1791, Alexander Hamilton and a group of investors created the S.U.M., the Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures, to harness the tremendous power of the Passaic Great Falls."

Characteristics
This difficult but spectacular adventure takes you down the Great Falls of the Fox, the most awesome in the San Gabriel mountains. If you completed an easier hike in this same series, Lower Fox Canyon, you will have looked up at the Great Falls from below and will have tasted this adventure. In my opinion, the Great Falls of the Fox provide the most exciting adventure hike in this book.

I make NO guaranties about just how "great" either of these "Great Falls Of The..." are.
