Experts from London's Natural History Museum are expected to conduct a post-mortem once it beaches Not to pick nits, but I thought "beaching" was when a live/dying animal essentially swam into shallow water or up on the beach. This sounds to me more of a case of washing ashore than beaching.
I know some of you FReepers know a lot more than I - what's the scoop?

According to the dictionary, either one is correct.
Main Entry: 2 beach
Function: transitive verb
1 : to run or drive ashore
2 : to strand on or as if on a beach
Though I don't think that's quite what you meant...
