The Vikings are expected to sign former Gophers wrestling star Brock Lesnar later today, continuing Lesnars long-shot bid to play in the NFL as a defensive lineman.

Thanks for the ping
no, they outlawed smoking. wrestling will be next.
I think he & his team are the people furnishing the numbers. Seriously I don't think he has a snowball's chance in Hell but I hope he can do it.
Yes, I believe so.
@#$%! I was a big fan of Team eXtreme! (Mmmm...Lita...)
His chances are excellent. Most people don't know that most professional athletes hold wrestlers in awe due to their commitment to year-round schedules and fitness and the fact that most must work through their injuries.
Brock has an extra advantage by being one of the fittest wrestlers who ever lived with relatively little damage to show for it. He proved his intelligence and physical control by putting on hundreds of entertaining matches without seriously harming anyone (guys his size are notorious for "working stiff").
Best of all, Lesner left the WWE in good graces knowing that he may have to fall back on wrestling. Pretty wise for a 26-year old.
From one long-suffering Vikings fan to another, the only thing that can help the team is dumping Randy Moss. IMO he is poison.
Years ago (late 1970s?) the Washington Redskins invited Andre the Giant to their training camp. I don't remember the details now, but for whatever reason, things didn't work out, and they ended up letting him go. Does anyone here have the full story on that?
I think the Vikes are stuck with Moss. This isn't the first time Minnesota's been burned on a flashy running back. Who could forget Hershel Walker ?

Click on the "On the Fringe" logo. This site is written by a gal from my town who was once an editor for WCW magazine. It has portals and links to several sites so you can pick and choose. Be careful though of some of the sites it is linked too. Littered and I do mean heavily with ad ware and spy bots. Patty has a section where she excerpts a lot of news from those sites in a separate area on here site so you may not to go to the ad ware infested sites.
Well a lot have had the balls but Brock had the cash to go along with it to make it work.
The worst thing wrestlers have going against them is the injury thing. The year-around schedule make them have more injuries and injuries that would have you and me in a hospital for a week, they have to work through.
Especially if they see the cable numbers from last night and find out RAW outdrew the Rat Convention even during a down television period for wrestling.

Boy, Andre the Giant, though large was nowhere near the physical specimen Brock, or even Batista or HHH are.
did it really? wow. I don't have cable.
to be honest, don't expect the R convention will have any
better ratings. It's just a coronation ceremony.
The numbers I saw for the ratings ( I looked back a Drudge to refer back) were in the high 1's and 2's across the board network and cable (which is what the WWE weekend shows like Velocity and Heat run). Raw on its worst nights hit a 3 share. I dont have the hard numbers to compare just comparing what I saw earlier vs the usual for Raw last night. Raw did 3.7 last week and Smackdown about the same, and that is historically poor.
I must have misinterpreted Drudge but regardless if Raw had rating last week (which again is not good for them) they did more than hold their own against the entire lineup. However when talking about the convention, you probably show add up the ratings from all the networks combined.
CBS averaged a 5.6 rating/10 share in primetime to win by a comfortable margin. FOX took second with a 3.7/6, just beating NBC's 3.6/6. ABC was fourth at 3.2/5. The WB came in at 2.0/3 and UPN at 1.6/3.
FOX scored a narrow win among adults 18-49 with a 2.7 rating. CBS was right behind at 2.6. NBC averaged 2.0, ABC 1.7, The WB 1.1 and UPN 1.0.
Reruns of "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Two and a Half Men" averaged 5.5/9 for CBS at 8 p.m. FOX took second with a repeat of "Trading Spouses," 4.2/7. "Fear Factor," 3.8/7, was third for NBC, beating ABC's "My Wife and Kids" and "George Lopez." The WB averaged 2.0/3 with "7th Heaven," while UPN went with "One on One" and "Half & Half."
I haven't either. I used to watch when I was vegetating in a hotel, but it seems WWE is never on anymore. Does anybody know what nights/times/stations rassling's on?
