My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I would indeed be truly blessed
if in my hand your heart should rest.
If I could capture the stars from the skies
to remind me of the twinkle in your eyes,
once again blessed I would be,
but your beautiful eyes are lost to me.
You are no longer by my side
& the beat of your heart has faded, died.
So I wish I could in Paradise be,
alone we two, just you & me.

My better half Laura Earl had a male Maine Coon KC. He was over 17 years old and was fading fast. We took him to the Vet who recommended we put him down. We both agreed and since Laura couldn't bear it, I stayed with him til he left this world. I wrote this Laura Earl and me.
A Dear Pets Farewell
Shed no tears for me my friend,
You made my life good.
You treated me lovingly,
As all good friends should.
You sheltered me and fed me,
For all of those years.
Please think about the good times,
And then dry those tears.
I know how youre missing me,
But my time was due.
Im happy and I like it here,
And I think of you.
Playing keeps me busy now,
So I need to run.
Well meet on the Rainbow Bridge,
Then play in the Sun.

Yes, I know made me cry. I had a cat that was 17 years old. He was so sick the only kind thing I could do for him was lay him down. The Vet came to my house and he died here in his home. I buried him that afternoon between the day lilies and the chives. It was in October.
It was hard to do.
To: Darkchylde
Oh my, thank you, an inspiration from something I wrote. What was it Darkchylde?
To: bentfeather
Post #561, it starts off "I would indeed be blessed...".
I came up with my first two lines looking at that one.

WOW thanks. Like I mentioned earlier I love when that happens.
My lines came from the poem Colonel Flagg posted.
We both were inspired by another's work. :-)

Good nite poets
May the sweet aroma of Lily of the Valley fill your dreams caress your face tenderly lull you to sleep in the safety of knowing love...
~ Dream a Little ~ Love a Lot ~
I remember the color your hair was... the color of spiced rum With memories of you walking without me in gentle oriental rain Left me with dreams of being lost in your embrace. The peace in your eyes shone through I was lost, lost in your eyes ..........lost in your embrace... Dreams of you at Indian Twilight...

It is never easy. I was not close to KC but I could feel Laura's loss as if it were mine.

Good morning to the Lair! I hope this finds everyone hale and hearty today!
Charles Augustus Fortescue
Hilaire Belloc
The nicest child I ever knew
Was Charles Augustus Fortescue.
He never lost his cap, or tore
His stockings or his pinafore:
In eating Bread he made no Crumbs,
He was extremely fond of sums,
To which, however, he preferred
The Parsing of a Latin Word--
He sought, when it was within his power,
For information twice an hour,
And as for finding Mutton-Fat
Unappatising, far from that!
He often, at his Father's Board,
Would beg them, of his own accord,
To give him, if they did not mind,
The Greasiest Morsels they could find--
His Later Years did not belie
The Promise of his Infancy.
In Public Life he always tried
To take a judgement Broad and Wide;
In Private, none was more than he
Renowned for quiet courtesy.
He rose at once in his Career,
And long before his Fortieth Year
Had wedded Fifi, Only Child
Of Bunyan, First Lord Aberfylde.
He thus became immensely Rich,
And built the Splendid Mansion which
Is called The Cedars, Muswell Hill,
Where he resides in affluence still,
To show what everybody might
Become by SIMPLY DOING RIGHT.

Thanks for that post, CG. Very pretty and I'm sure we've all felt the emotions that go with losing a faithful friend.
