Soooo, just being smaller than .50 isn't good enough?

It can't look "mean?"

That's right. California has its very own special "assault weapons" ban which really limits availability of semi-auto rifles. If it is semi-auto center fire, then you can only have one "evil" feature - such as a detachable magazine. You can't have a semi-auto rifle with both a detachable magazine AND a pistol grip. Those darn things are so dang dangerous that they'll let themselves out of the safe, load themselves, and hop up and down the streets spraying bullets at kindergarten children.

Reminds me of something that happened in the 80's.
A group of students hid under an oak tree to get out of the rain.
Next thing one of them notices, he's in the hospital, a couple of his friends are dead, and he's being told that he was blown clean out of his shoes.

Lightning hit the tree, blew it to bits, and about 20 students were knocked down, injured, or worse.
Teachers were horrified, and parents wanted desperately to blame someone.

You live in a very special, magical state.

Any chance you could take some reps to the range and show them how much fun capping a few rounds can be?

They can't be as stupid as their legislation, can they?

Don't'cha mean butter knives?

I've seen some fairly sharp toothpicks...in fact, there's nothing much lamer than a dull toothpick.

NY cheers up there, Darks.

Oh grack.
The toothpicks I saw that were duller than a 2x4 were round on one end and square tipped on the other.
They were flat as well.
Awful things to try and use.
they were better off being used as campfire tinder.

Weather Channel said New Orleans would not be hit as hard because 1. They will not take a direct hit and 2. They will catch the weaker west side of the storm....Mobile, now that's another matter.

I don't disagree with your take, Resty.

There is order in earth elements or a pattern.

Yes weather can be destructived, but it follows grids and laylines.

When it deviates from the law physics than it is contrived.

I remember in the 80's how there was this invisible wall over about 5 farms states which cause a lot of farmers go into bankruptcy.

What was happening was the rain that was coming down from Canada would re route to the east or the west but never in the middle where the rain was needed.

It was called ELF waves Exstream Low Frequency

N.Y. judge to jurors: It’s OK to be drunk

Reuters
Updated: 6:02 p.m. ET Sept. 15, 2004

NEW YORK - New Yorkers dreading jury duty take note: it’s OK to be drunk on booze or high on pot or cocaine while doing your civic duty.

So said a New York judge Wednesday, who refused to set aside the verdict on a retired city firefighter convicted of swiping souvenirs from Ground Zero, citing the U.S. Supreme Court to back her ruling.

Samuel Brandon, 61, found guilty in March of petty larceny for stealing personal items from the ruins of the World Trade Center, asked for a new trial after a juror told him after the verdict that he had been drinking during deliberations.

But Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Ellen Coin cited a 1987 Supreme Court decision which rejected the argument that jurors consuming alcohol, smoking marijuana, snorting cocaine and falling asleep constituted an “outside influence” on jurors.

Coin said being drunk on jury duty was “reprehensible,” but that there was little she could do about it given the Supreme Court ruling.

“However severe their effect and improper their use, drugs or alcohol voluntarily ingested by a juror seem no more an ‘outside influence’ than a virus, poorly prepared food, or lack of sleep,” the Supreme Court said in its decision.

Brandon faces up to one year in jail at his Sept. 27 sentencing.
