Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yeah, the elevated train scene did it for me.

"Yeah, the elevated train scene did it for me."
That was my favorite scene--though I won't say why on account of spoilers :)

I'm not seeing it because I've got a friend who wants to go with me and she couldn't get away last weekend. There's no comparison with someone who can't rent a video... or download a codec.... ;-)

"The elevator scene had me in tears."
That part was in the preview, so I don't feel guilty talking about that part :) Yeah, that was pretty funny. I also liked the "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" mini-video :)

"There's no comparison with someone who can't rent a video... or download a codec.... ;-)"It's not my fault I couldn't get the camera to download--oh, you said "codec", not "Kodak". . .I'm working on it!
But I did finally see Princess Bride last week, BTW :)

We've had two weeks to see Spiderman2.
You've had almost 2 decades to see "Princess Bride."
Jen's been busy getting ready to move. In my case it is difficult to juggle movies that are appropriate for our children...ages 4, 14 and 74...
(I'll see it when Jr. gets back from Brazil)

I never read the "Marvels" graphic novel--what's that about?"Marvels" was a four issue limited series written by Kurt Busiek and drawn by Alex Ross. It's been collected in graphic novel format. The premise is an ordinary man's view of Marvel history, from its start in the 40s through the 60s. The "ordinary guy" in this case is a news photographer who makes a name for himself from his photos of what he calls the "Marvels", the superheroes of the Marvel Universe. Great story, and great art, IMHO!

Spiderman would be inappropriate for the 74-year-old, I'm guessing.

Nah, it's only been a few months that Jen and Rosie have been teasing me about not seeing it :)

I haven't seen it yet, either.
My excuse is that it's much cheaper to rent a move for three bucks - and where everyone can watch on the same "ticket" - than to pay six bucks or more at the theater, per person.
I'd still like to see it, though...the first one wasn't absolutely fantastic (few movies rate that in my mind), but it was entertaining, and everyone says this one is better.

Actually for the older crowd, Aunt May does some cool stuff in this one--I won't say what [zips mouth]. . .
