Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

"Besides, one knows spam when one sees it."
I thought Augustine said that about time? So spam=time. . .I think I'm getting it straight now. . .s=mc squared where s=spam. . .the answer is 42 and c is a constant. . .solve for m. . .

"The difference is that a funkle is a person posting real posts, substantive replies, where no one else is on the thread to break up the replies.... in the extreme, it looks like you are all alone and no one will talk to you."
Oh, you mean like when I post! Okay, I've got it now :)

"Except...I have no desire to live somewhere big enough to have a lot of public transporation."
After riding the bus in Milwaukee for years, I'd agree with ya!

So if I can post my reply to this before anyone else posts something, I'll have a funkle?--woo-hoo! :)

LOL!! I did the quiz and my #1 spot was Miami!! #'s 4 and 5 on my list are near where I grew up; Mobile AL and Biloxi-Gulfport MS! As a matter of fact, my older sister was telling me about some property for sale in Ocean Springs, which is right across the Bay from Biloxi, that is on a point where the house is surrounded on three sides by water. It is a wide, deep bayou that leads out into the Mississippi Sound which opens into the Gulf of Mexico. She's gonna take some pictures for me.
I'd love to buy a place now, rent it out, then have it ready to move to when SSQ retires. For sure, land values, especially waterfront, won't be going DOWN! It looks like a place that we could kayak from easily, even out into the sound, which is pretty calm most of the time; we wouldn't need sea kayaks there.
I nust have been REALLY down on the winter sports questions, cause ALL of my spots are in FL, TX, MS or AL!!

Now that they had to be to different posts I didn't know! It's what I do when I get on late at night and start responding to folks' earlier posts, and there's no one else around to break up my string of chatter!

They should really add a traffic question to the quiz! Miami would flunk out of every search. ;-)

Not to worry. I could think about Jacksonville or St. Augustine. Maybe Tampa/St. Pete.
But noone is offering me big bucks to move there...

Yes, but I'm backwards--you forget I like Bakshi :)
[does Funkle dance--which is very funky, BTW--or should I say "funkly". . .]
(I told you I was up 'til 3:30. . .This is what happens. This is Fedora's brain; this is Fedora's brain when it should be on drugs and it isn't. . .any questions?)

Well, now that the high from my funkle dance is wearing off, my repressed shame is kicking in, and I feel mildly embarrassed. . .

LOL! Well, when you know it's late at night, there is reason for no one to be up to interact with...
If I funkle in the middle of the day, I assume I am the only one currently interested in what I have to say ;~D
