Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Oh I am sure they do... everyone offers health benefits nowadays.... only difference is how much of the kids are covered. ~That part~ I wouldn't have thought to ask about!

I thought it was a perfect response, Rose. She'll be thinking about that conversation for a loooong time.
Maybe one day she'll reappear at your door to ask what you meant by that and you can lead to the right...er, I mean, light!

Well then, most employers who offer benefits have a family coverage option! Not all hope is lost here. Especially a fool's hope like mine! ;-)

" Was I mean? Was I rude?" The way I handle that kind of thing depends on my mood. IMO in some situations it may be better to be rude to avoid having to become more rude, LOL! In other words, ideally I'd like to give the person a chance to have a civil conversation in which they get a chance to state their case and hear mine; however if I sense I'm going to lose my patience/temper with them I prefer to end the conversation ASAP before the conversation escalates into an argument; and this depends a lot on what else I'm doing at the moment as well as the other person's approach, which calls for a judgement call. It also depends on when they approach me. I have zero tolerance towards salesmen who call either in the early morning or during the dinner hour and I feel no compunction about being rude to them. If they're polite about when and how they call I might give them more of a hearing.

Next time I talk to her, I'll let her know that we are starting a small commune/compound type community, and that I have a friend or two that....
Nevermind, maybe I shouldn't.

If someone's coming door-to-door, nothing you say can possibly be rude. She was imposing on you, right?

Elrond wishes he could say the same thing... Last time I was home I watched ROTK with the sister (first time she had seen it.) At the end she says "Well Elrond is smiling now."
Hehe....guess his laxative finally kicked in.
To: Overtaxed
I need to get back to work. I just might put in ROTK...

Since I started working from home I have lost all patience with door to door anythings. My current sign at the front door:

Maybe I should include DEMOCRATS on the list?

"I'm with the Democratic National Committee ---"Oh, is that who that was? I wish now I'd answered the door, I could have used a good laugh.
