The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Oh, guess what? I can get Starbucks' espresso blend here! It's one of the few kinds they DO have. I didn't get any yet since I still have plenty, but next time I'm low and they have a sale, I want to try some!

Do people who aren't Catholic go to the rosary?

Oh yeah, anyone who is at the wake can join in. Everyone's prayers are welcome! I actually missed the Rosary because I was in a back room of the Funeral Home talking (surprising, I know !) with some high school friends of one of my older brothers. When my older sister walked in, I asked when the Rosary was going to start and she said it was already over. DOH!

I'm glad you're home, Suzi. And it sounds like the funeral's what your mother would have wanted.

Isn't a little strange, though, that sometimes it seems you only see family at things like funerals? Two of the three times I've seen my surviving great-grandfather have been at funerals. I'd like to have a chance to know him a bit, but we never see him. Or maybe it's just my family that's weird.

Do you eat the guinea eggs? What are those like?

Be nice when the newchicks are big enough to start laying!

*snif* I want chickens someday.

It'd be nice to have fresh eggs! But chickens would be too much work for me. Heck, I'm not sure I'm responsible enough for a houseplant yet.
