Ice cream vendor accused of raping, impregnating girl, 9

Phoenix police arrested a Phoenix ice cream vendor Tuesday in connection with raping and impregnating a 9-year-old girl he befriended on his sales route, said police Sgt. Randy Force.

Adrian Gonzalez, 24, was arrested at his home at 4621 E. Hubbell St. and booked into Maricopa County’s Madison Street Jail in Phoenix on suspicion of two counts each of kidnapping and sexual misconduct with a minor, with a dangerous crimes against children classification, Force said.

On different occasions Gonzalez drove brown-andwhite vans in the area of 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road, near where the girl lived. Gonzalez befriended the girl and her siblings, and got to know her mother well enough to persuade her to let the girl accompany him on his route, Force said.

Several sexual acts occurred in the van, Force said.

"This subject intimidated the girl into silence by telling her he would kill her siblings and kill her mother if she told," he said.

The possible abuse came to light after the girl complained to a friend of what was later determined to be a pregnancy-related illness. The girl took a home pregnancy test and later informed the police of the rape, Force said. The pregnancy was confirmed by police, Force said.

The rape was reported to have happened in April or May, Force said.

Police fear there could be other victims.

"There could be other children out there that are just too scared to say anything," Force said.

I agree and disagree. But, this is not an easy case. Does the child even have the mental capabilities to even understand an abortion? Would she truly be a victimizer in the event that her unborn is aborted? I don't know. If it were MY daughter, I would not even think of allowing her to carry a child to term and risking her physical and emotional health. And, as I said, if I am wrong may God forgive me.

Abortion isn't birth control as much as some abortion rights advocates want it to be. Also, with respect to getting abortions for any other reason, you can't make someone feel guilty if they don't want to be.

Abortion: yes or no?

Ouch.

No. I can't justify the murder of a second child, in response to the rape of the first. Exception being, of course, if the 9-yo is truly endangered by the pregnancy.

As for the rapist.... I say don't kill him, either. Just put him in with the general prison population.

A 9 year old is able to get pregnant????????? what??? Has something changed in the past 20 years that I need to know about??

The apparent record is for a 5 year old to carry a child to term. (The baby boy was delivered via Caesarean.)

It was an excuse for a pun for Pete's sake.

On another topic, My Dr. charges too much. Would you be willing to do a little "pro bono" consultation on my health issues here online?

Some people here think I'm off my meds.

No you can't make someone feel guilty. Ask most inmates if they feel bad about their crimes. Ask Saddam if he feels bad about cutting out tongues or putting human beings through meat grinders. Most humans have a decent conscience. There are, tragically, some exceptions.

Everyone I have ever known who had an abortion dealt with at least a degree of guilt. A sizeable majority of pro-aborts also believe it is morally wrong -- that the baby is a life. That's the position that confuses me the most. We cannot kill the baby if it is a human life, no matter how convenient it might be. To me, the issue is about life, not choice. I could live with it being about choice only in the case of rape or incest (life of the mother isn't about choice), and I am not really comfortable with those cases. In my opinion, the choice is made when sex occurs.

Well perhaps people should ask themselves why the abortion rights lobby likes to use rape/incest situations as the lynch pin of their argument (that comprises less than 1% of abortions). I'm not comfortable with it either, but I do know reality. Availability of the pill in a rape kit would mean that this argument would not even be happening. Also, early reporting of rape and a girl getting herself to the hospital would help. Unfortunately with children, children are ashamed but more often feel extremely guilty/dirty and this also dangerous because of the real threat of AIDs,etc.

As a father, I think I can understand your feelings. But when you include "emotional health" as a reason for killing an innocent baby, you're letting feelings dictate morality. Not a good idea.

She could understand later that an innocent baby was murdered because she was raped. It wouldn't be her fault, but it isn't good.

Think it through.

You just don't kill an innocent child because his father is a loathesome monster.

Could be other environmental stuff as well, but that hasn't been proven. It was proven a long time ago that you can trigger earlier puberty by making a girl fatter at an earlier age

There are studies showing that girls who have a good relationship with their biological fathers (and, I believe, live in the same home with them) reach puberty significantly later than girls who do not live with their fathers, or who live in a home with a man who is not their father.

Not the kids I saw in the spelling bee on TV the other day. (Most of them seemed to be home schooled BTW.) They were amazingly courageous under intense pressure. I never could have done it.
