Help! Viking Kitty Messed Up My Computer!
Posted on 06/28/2004 9:07:28 AM PDT by Not A Snowbird
Help, all you techies out there. Last night my cat sat on my keyboard (all 24 pounds of him). When I finally dislodged him, I discovered my screen display had rotated 90 degrees. I can't figure out what combination of keys he sat on to cause this, so I can't undo what he did.
Anybody out there know what to do? I'm working on a Dell with Windows XP. And please don't tell me to get a Mac, that would not be very helpful right now.

If all else fails, system restore will indeed fix it.

I offer this because I worked at a credit collection agency, and at least 3 times a week someone came up to me with the "my computer is broken, it won't turn on!" problem. 70% of the time, the correct solution was to turn the brightness knob that they had somehow spun all the way down, up
It's too bad some people don't come with those. (Or for that matter "mute" buttons.)

That was me last night!
For some reason my teenager thought it was extremely amusing, until she realized that she wouldn't be able to use the computer until I fixed it... which won't be until I get home tonight.
Ha, ha, ha!

LOL! 'Evil Inside', indeed!
Where I live, I'd be more worried about a bear smacking my monitor. ;^)

Well, if it was a Mac, I'd tell you to go to your system preferences and check the monitor or display preference. On the older Macs, you used to be able to adjust the size and angle of the screen display. Perhaps your computer has something along this line.

My ATI card has the same capability for screen rotation.

Don't have any experience with an ATI card, so I 'hedged' my words to what I do have experience with.
*chuckle*
I'd suspect that it would be pretty standard, but that sometimes isn't always the case.

Yes, sticky keys off and I use sys restore for most everything else. it works great, but if you have a bug, it makes many copies of it inadvertantly.
I have much better security now since changing to DSL and a better AV prog.
