NYT RUSHES OUT REVIEW REDO (Kinder Review Of clinton Book)
June 25, 2004 -- The New York Times, which last Sunday published a scathing front-page review of Bill Clinton's "My Life," has alerted subscribers that another, much kinder and gentler review is coming July 4 in The New York Times Book Review. Entitled "Confessions of a Policy Wonk" and written by the novelist Larry McMurtry, the prominently placed review calls the book "the richest American presidential autobiography," and says that the former president is a better writer than Reagan, Ford, Nixon or Lyndon Johnson.
Unlike Michiko Kakutani, the author of the June 20 review, who called Clinton's book "eye-crossingly dull," McMurtry evokes authors from Dreiser to Fitzgerald to Balzac — if not in comparison to Clinton, at least in reference to him.

Bush Camp Hits Democrats' 'Coalition of Wild-Eyed' Reuters ^ | 06/24/04
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush's re-election campaign lumped together vocal outbursts by Democrats Al Gore, Howard Dean and others on Thursday and called them part of John Kerry's "Coalition of the Wild-Eyed."
The Bush-Cheney campaign released a video on its Web Site that played up some of the more strident statements Democrats have made on the campaign trail and declared: "This is not a time for pessimism and rage."
The implication the Bush campaign appeared to be trying to leave was that some of the main boosters of Kerry's presidential campaign are filled with rage and perhaps a bit kooky.
"Today, our campaign is releasing a web video to 6 million of our supporters to show them what we're up against and what we're up against is John Kerry's 'coalition of the wild-eyed,"' said Bush campaign manager Ken Melhman.

Cheney Tells Sen. Leahy F*** Off NewsMax.com ^ | 6/24/04 | AP
Vice President Cheney cursed at Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy during a confrontation on the Senate floor while members were having their annual group picture taken earlier this week, Leahy and Senate sources said Thursday.
Senate aides with knowledge of the encounter Tuesday said the vice president confronted Leahy about some of the Democrat's criticism about alleged improprieties in Iraq military contracts awarded to Halliburton Co. Cheney, who as vice president is president of the Senate, is a former CEO of Halliburton.
Leahy responded by criticizing the White House for standing by allies who had accused Democrats of being anti-Catholic last year in opposing one of President Bush's judicial nominees, said one Senate aide, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Cheney then responded, "F-- off" or "F-- you," the aide said.
That account was backed by another aide, also speaking on condition of anonymity.
Leahy, D-Vt., confirmed that the confrontation took place but would not provide details.
"I think he was just having a bad day," Leahy said. "I was kind of shocked to hear that kind of language on the floor."
Cheney's office also wouldn't go into detail, but confirmed the two men traded remarks.
"That doesn't sound like language that the vice president would use, but there was a frank exchange of views," said Kevin Kellems, a spokesman for Cheney.

If I see a Washington Post, I throw is away and I will not recycle it.

One more solicitation from the Baltimore Sun came yesterday - 50¢ for the Sunday issue, for a six month period. The small print says that the delivery charge, which is included, is 46¢.

To get it for the coupons is an offer hard to resist, but resist it I will, on principle.

The Sun (another Chicago Tribune paper) must really be hurting for circulation numbers, to give it away like this.

I am so happy for you all. I can feel your joy all the way down here.

Our number 6 granddaughter is a curly headed - red head. Elizabeth Ann will be 1 in Aug. All her siblings are blonde, or dark blonde.

We have two granddaughters with dark auburn, but Ellie is our lone red head.

OOOOOHHHHHH, GrEy Goose. We'll have to check that out. Smooth huh? Roomey will like that.

Nita if you go to the lake, dont' be a sun-hog, it can give you blisters.

Today, I can't type, keep getting the ls and ps in a word. Need to get the coffee started.

IG, I think our pubbie party will be quite a bit warmer than yours was. It's going to be in the 90s today, again. No need for parkas, but maybe shorts and loose shirts.

Oh, I have to clean the laundry room. It's always such a mess back there. It's always dusty, but then my whole house is dusty, cause I leave all the doors open, I can't stand to be closed in.

Gotta get started, been goofing off this AM, and loving it, but time marches on and there's lots to do.

See y'all later.

Hi Jane. Is my ignorance ever going to show here (blushing)....I'm probably the ONLY FReeper that doesn't know. What are DU callers?

If you would have said DB callers, I would have said either Dead Beat callers or Digital Brownshirt callers.

I see Nita answered you..Democrat Underground (or Demons Underground, as I prefer to think of them) is the democrat site which purports to be like FR. It is full of vulgarity, nutso theories about Bush, nasty people, whiners who want hugs and drugs, and terrorist sympathizers. I have only looked at it a couple of times, because it depresses me that these people are living in my country.

The callers sounded like people from that site...hate Bush no matter what. If President Bush singlehandedly discovered the cure for cancer, they would still hate him.

I don't know, neither does the Dr. I didn't feel a thing, Roomey asked what the red circle was and I didn't know, cause I didn't see it or feel it. It just appeared. The 2nd or 3rd day I noticed a crusting in the center of the red, so being me, I took my washcloth with lots of soap and literally scrubbed it, a perfect round hole appeared. I Neosporined it, but nothing happened so after 8 or 9 days I went to the Dr. He gets the culture back today, so we'll know what that really is. Nothing ever happens to me, but this year, has been a bug-a-boo with dumb stuff happening. Oh well, this too will pass.

This week-end I'll do some of my golf tournament, BBQ and Sunday after, shopping. I think this year, along with the SOS on Sunday, I'll make a breakfast pizza. I did it one year, and everyone loved it, and with the bunch I'm having this year, I think I'll do it again. I love this upcoming weekend, there is so much fellowship, laughing, story telling and of course the vets stories get better every year. Some stay for two or three days after the BBQ and we do some serious visiting and maybe golf. Then after the last group leaves, I go into the kitchen, sit at the table, put my feet on a chair and have a nice icy cold champagne.

Thanks Neets!

I hadn't even heard of that sick website. Jane, I get depressed and frustrated each and every day because the democrat party is in existance, has thousands of people in power in our national, state and local governments, put the worst president in our history in office for 8 years, demanded he stay there at all costs, nearly put a man that clearly has alarming mental problems into that office, will do anything it can to replace President Bush with a man of dangerously questionable character, if not.....and I don't care if Hannity won't say it, I will.....very questionable patriotism, and ~40 million people in this country that will vote democrat.

Lo everyone. Had an eye exam on Wednesday..eyes were dilated all the way through Thursday night. Back at work now, and I can actually read again.

Unfortunately, due to the size of my pupils, they're having to push back the laser surgery 30 days or so while I'm taking pupil reduction eyedrops. Of course, it's a 30 day delay because my doctor only works in the vision clinic one day every three weeks..argh.

#68..Ooops sorry...didn't see #68

Gee till, it kinda sounds like a brown recluse to me....

..very similar to my b-i-l's bite, looked ugly for a while, but with antibiotics, it did heal.

That' sounds just like the bite or whatever that I had last summer.

Except I didn't scrub anything and my leg swelled up so badly.

Maybe your scrubbing was a GOOD thing in that it broke up the infection.

This one out-Clinton's Clinton. Comparing him to Balzac? Prozac might be more like it.

Prozac? Sounds more like Ipecac might apply as well...;-)

We just observed a moment of silence throughout the entire company at noon Eastern in memory of our fallen employee, Paul Johnson. Just wanted to tell someone.
