For news we won't find in the mainstream press, here's a tidbit:

The UN says that Saddam shipped WMD out of the country before, during and after the war.

Even the Canadian PM, no friend to America, said in a recent speech that we know terrorists have obtained WMD from Saddam.

I thankfully never had to deal with that. After my dad had his stroke, he refused to drive, because his sense of left-right and direction was messed up. He recovered enough to function around the house and do the grocery shopping, but he didn't want to risk hitting a child because his sense of direction was messed up. My husband had to convince his father to give up his drivers' license (he was driving with double vision) and it was the hardest thing he ever had to do.

Enough of this complaining from me. I love my mom, and thankfully she is healthy and will celebrate her 80th birthday. One does get frustrated from time to time, but I alsways try to remember how I must have driven my mom crazy when I was 16. LOL!

I am going outside to do some work. I will check in later.

Will Gore's speech be televised? Tom, if it is, will you get us another screen shot? Seriously, I think Gore's performances could be used as evidence that he is bonkers. It's no wonder that Tipper was interested in mental health.

#32...Sweetie, no offense, but using those wonderfully created unmentionables ....for older people with 'control problems' work wonders.

Sometimes it need only be a temporary solution.

Dad too had problems after surgery...plus a new diuretic in his system...

..and did not want to resort to this measure....

..and yet it gives a peace of mind.

Are you reading between the lines here :)

Just read your problem with mil...
..she does the 'other'...

lysie, you're doing much too much already...

..please encourage her or firmly tell her to take responsibility for 'this'...and get her some Depends!!

#36..Sweetie, I hope you're not apologizing for having your mom in a 'home'....

I feel...I can't give mom the excellent care they are giving her at the 'home', especially with her advancing Alzheimers & her deafness....

..3 square meals a day....nutritionally sound and measured in the right amounts...
..extreme cleanliness in her room, etc....

..but most of all...

.. care/observation when she leaves her room....
...encouragement, stimulation and pleasure on a daily basis....
...appreciation of her piano playing abilities and letting her entertain...
...meds on time.

The 'issues' mom & I had with each other are buried within her psyche, but she still won't interract with me to 'do things' or let me motivate her.

Others, however, can motivate her well on a daily basis.

Plus the rest this 'home' is giving dad.....with a call button at hand and his doctor & hospital only blocks away.

Hubby & I are still 'hands on'.....
..taking them for doctor's visits,
..taking dad's meds to him on a weekly basis....,
..meeting needs

...but I am thankful we were fortunate to have this place...

..the truth of it is, though, per capita, Florida has more than its share of assisted living homes catering to the older population we have always had.

lysie, God bless you and your efforts!
Pace yourself....do what you can, but don't be hard on yourself.

My mom told me from the beginning....years and years ago...

..'never put me in an nursing home'....

...well....mom doesn't even know where she is...

..but she knows she loves it there....she truly does.

..every time I visit she tells me how wonderful the place is and how kind folks are.....she's aware enough to realize this.

...if it comes to a 'home' lysie, don't hesitate....and there's 'help' out there too.

You should have an 'elder care' office in your town or county and might could use an advocate.

Peach, (or anyone that might know)

You have alot of 911 commission links and info. I heard Tom Sullivan on Rush yesterday talk about an Al Queda plan to take over a Russian Nuke Silo that is targeted at the US and have it launch? Any info where that was in the 911 reports (I think he mentioned the 911 commission, but only half listening at work or someone here was bothering me with a work related question) so far? I looked at a couple of the pdf files posted on the 911 commission site and have not found anything.... Thanks.
