I am a father to two teen-age girls, and actually, I have not used even a small number of these. Wow, good for you
or your daughters. LOL, I don't know who benefits the most.

I have heard many of the phrases used, by other parents, to other children.
I think my girls would back me up that I have tried to be more original than that...
For example:
D..."Dad, I've got hiccups."
N.."Share them with your sister."

The Name Game
Shirley Ellis
(Click hyperlink)
EVERYONE SING ALONG!
The name game!
Shirley!
Shirley, Shirley bo Birley Bonana fanna fo Firley
Fee fy mo Mirley, Shirley!
Lincoln!
Lincoln, Lincoln bo Bincoln Bonana fanna fo Fincoln
Fee fy mo Mincoln, Lincoln!
Come on everybody!
I say now let's play a game
I betcha I can make a rhyme out of anybody's name
The first letter of the name, I treat it like it wasn't there
But a B or an F or an M will appear
And then I say bo add a B then I say the name and Bonana fanna and a
fo
And then I say the name again with an F very plain
and a fee fy and a mo
And then I say the name again with an M this time
and there isn't any name that I can't rhyme
Arnold!
Arnold, Arnold bo Barnold Bonana fanna fo Farnold
Fee fy mo Marnold Arnold!
But if the first two letters are ever the same,
I drop them both and say the name like
Bob, Bob drop the B's Bo ob
For Fred, Fred drop the F's Fo red
For Mary, Mary drop the M's Mo ary
That's the only rule that is contrary.
Okay? Now say Bo: Bo
Now Tony with a B: Bony
Then Bonana fanna fo: bonana fanna fo
Then you say the name again with an F very plain: Fony
Then a fee fy and a mo: fee fy mo
Then you say the name again with an M this time: Mony
And there isn't any name that you can't rhyme
Every body do Tony!
Pretty good, let's do Billy!
Very good, let's do Marsha!
A little trick with Nick!
The name game
How about we have a Free Republic Saturday Night Party?
Are you game?

Hi everyone,
Speaking of Dad's words of wisdom... I have a couple that my Grandfather reminds me of (In fact, he said the second quote to me today). I'm not sure where he got them from...
(1) It's easy enough to be pleasant
when life flows along like a song.
But the one who's worthwhile is the one who can smile
when everything goes dead wrong.
(2) Never marry an old man,
I'll tell you the reason why.
Tobacco juice is on his lip
His chin is never dry.
An old man may have money
And cattle on his farm,
But a young man knows just how to love
With a power in his arm.

I'm not being shy! I'm working on it! :)

A Father's Blessing
Read: 1 Peter 3:8-12
Be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil . . . , but on the contrary blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9
Bible In One Year: Esther 1-2; Acts 5:1-21
A man who was grieving the death of his father said, "I am crying not only for my father, but for me. His death means that I'll never hear the words I always wanted to hear from him: that he was proud of me, proud of the family I've raised and the life I've lived."
Instead of repeating his father's mistake, the man later gave his own son the words of encouragement he himself had never heard, saying he was proud of him and the life he had made.
Too often, tension between fathers and children are left unresolved. Old wounds remain unhealed. We are unwilling to forgive the angry words and hurts from the past. But for the sake of ourselves and our families, we need to do what we can to dismantle the walls of separation between us.
How can we begin? The Bible's command for all our relationships is: "Love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous, not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing . . . . Turn away from evil and do good; . . . seek peace and pursue it" (1 Peter 3:8-9,11).
Let's determine by God's grace to break the cycle of anger and give our children what they long to hear from uswords of blessing and love. David McCasland
Our children need to know we care,
That when they need us we'll be there;
For deep within they need to hear
That they are loved by someone dear. D. De Haan
The best thing you spend on your children is your time.

I am a little church(no great cathedral)
- e. e. cummings -
I am a little church(no great cathedral)
far from the splendor and squalor of hurrying cities
-I do not worry if briefer days grow briefest,
I am not sorry when sun and rain make April
My life is the life of the reaper and the sower;
my prayers are prayers of earth's own clumsily striving
(finding and losing and laughing and crying)children
whose any sadness or joy is my grief or my gladness
Around me surges a miracle of unceasing
birth and glory and death and resurrection:
over my sleeping self float flaming symbols
of hope, and I wake to a perfect patience of mountains
i am a little church(far from the frantic
world with its rapture and anguish)at peace with nature
-I do not worry if longer nights grow longest;
I am not sorry when silence becomes singing
Winter by spring, I lift my diminutive spire to
merciful Him Whose only now is forever:
standing erect in the deathless truth of His presence
(welcoming humbly His light and proudly His darkness)

Dads
Dads are not the speciallest things that ever came to be,
They only seem to be that way to everyone, and me.
My own dad was a giant, when I was two feet tall,
But as I grew, he never seemed to get to being small.
I learned new ways to measure. Wish I could measure up.
Best I could do was making sure that I drank from his cup.
He never had an enemy, because he was a friend.
Whoever needed help somehow he had it there to lend.
He was not a wealthy man. He worked hard just to get by,
And when someone had a challenge he said, Lets give it a try.
He never feared a failure. He knew we learned that way,
He made sure that he could look proudly on his day.
He gave me living lessons, in what to do and be.
He knew just by being there hed make a man of me.
I know that there are places, where fathers have gone by,
Thats why when someone needs me I say, Lets give it a try.
I show them what I learned from him, and why I cared so much,
And why I know that every child still needs a fathers touch.
So if you can please try to put your arms around your Dad,
And tell him hes the best one any kid has ever had.
