Well, caring more about the horses not getting sick than a bumper apple crop, I went out and picked all the apples I could reach off that tree, so now the horses are back in the back forty again. Just to be on the safe side, I hung the blue tarp of doom (very scary!) from the tree, just in case they might have tried to reach some of the high ones. They are terrified of blue tarps... I couldn't even get Bay near it. I think they will steer far clear of that apple tree.

Are they tart? You could make apple pies, apple crisps, cobbler, sauce....

Maybe there's some sort of relish or applesauce you can make with the green apples.

Wow, that reminds me of a friend who used to have a pear-apple tree that put out tons. She would give me bushels of pear-apples every year and I would make preserves and cakes out of them. Sooo delicious. I have a pear-apple cake recipe she gave me too that is to die for. To make it now I use about 5 apples and 2 pears, but it isn't quite the same. You want it??
