Word For The Day, Wednesday, June 16, 2004
Webster's New Third Internantional Dictionary | Wednesday, June 16, 2004We | Slip 18

Posted on 06/16/2004 5:44:41 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Haven’t checked my mood ring yet. Y’all behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.

vagary noun:
Pronunciation: Pronounced about three different ways. Take your pick.
Etymology: Probably fr. Latin

1) Archaic: Journey, excursion, tour (Sea Dragon’s adventures?)
2) Archaic: An aimless digression
3) Obsequious: (a) A departure from the regular, lawful or proper course of conduct. (b)Caper, frolic
4) A departure from the normal, expected or logical order of course. (a) A capricious, eccentric or unpredictable action. (b) A change that is hard to predict or explain.

Good Morning Class. Welcome to School!

RULES: You must use the WFTD in a sentence for an A. For a + after your “A,” you must bring in a link of the word usage or something funny, a poem or some prose that will elucidate the word for us.

If you need to know how to link, come to the Subbie’s desk in the front of the class.

Do you know a good site to host pics for free that will link to FR? If so, hook a brother up.

Cold_dead_fingers, Fiddlstix may be able to help you out with that.

Send him a Freepmail and see if he can direct you to a site of his you might use.

I made shrimp salad for dinner and put capers in it!!!!!

Ran into Jax's K teacher in Wal-Mart, well actually hubby did and then she found me later.........anyway, she was all excited because she got a "promotion." She will be a first grade teacher come September.

I can just imagine the bickering in the principal's office this summer between her and Jax's 1st grade reading teacher about which homeroom Jax is going to be in!!! But I do know that she will be in one or the other's class......which is fine with me, Jax adores them both, I adore them both and they both adore Jax!!!!

Vagarious would be the adjective; vagariously would be the adverb. You could probably do as attorneys do (sorry, xs) and make it a verb by writing "vagarying or vagaried." But that's just MHO.

And people think we didn't originate from apes! That photo proves it. A wee bit of waxing would help his appearance, me thinks.
