~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Thread XIII~
June 13, 2004 | bentfeather and Poets of The Lair

Posted on 06/13/2004 8:15:45 PM PDT by Soaring Feather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Oh from my point of view -I would not let that bother me. Our writing changes as we change. I am never consistent in the length of my poems, some are long some are short.
Maybe you are putting limits on yourself and that is what is frustrating you..???

Oh sure, mine takes a break. I think it has to do with what is going on in our lives. Stress can drain our creative engeries.

Tim McGraw

"Unbroken"

Click for music

(Click the pick for music!)

How I ever lived and breathed before you loved me, I don’t recall
If I walked around at all, it was in bits and pieces
Of a jagged heart
You kissed me and every piece went back in place, every pain got erased
You held me up to the light

No one ever left me out in the rain
Cold words still remain unspoken
And I never got lost, spent years in the dark
You’re here, now my heart’s unbroken
When I see your smile fill my soul again
I’m unbroken

If I doubted the power of love, baby now I understand
I thank God for every day I wake up to the soft touch
Of your magic hands
In this world sometimes the only thing that’s real is the way you make me feel
Babe, the change is day and night
I swear it’s life

No one ever left me out in the rain
Cold words still remain unspoken
And I never got lost, spent years in the dark
You’re here, now my heart’s unbroken
When I see your smile fill my soul again
I’m unbroken

I still see the night, I fell into your eyes
And when we made love it felt like the first time

No one ever left me out in the rain
Cold words still remain unspoken
And I never got lost, spent years in the dark
You’re here, now my heart’s unbroken
When I see your smile fill my soul again
I’m unbroken

When I see your smile fill my soul again
I’m unbroken
I’m unbroken, oh yeah
I’m unbroken

No one ever left me out in the rain
Cold words still remain unspoken
And I never got lost, spent years in the dark
You’re here, now my heart’s unbroken
When I see your smile fill my soul again
I’m unbroken

A Cry
by Sarah Teasdale

Oh, there are eyes that he can see,
And hands to make his hands rejoice,
But to my lover I must be
Only a voice.

Oh, there are breasts to bear his head,
And lips whereon his lips can lie,
But I must be till I am dead
Only a cry.

Stealth Bomber Budget

B-2, or not B-2: That is the question.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
the slings and arrows of outrageous expense,
Or to take arms against a sea of deficits,
And by opposing end them. To cut; to spend;
No more; and by a cut to say we end
the heartache and a thousand cost overruns
That B-2 is heir to. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To cut; to spend;
To spend? Perchance stretch-out! Ay, there's the rub;
For in those stretch-outs what new overruns may come,
When we have shuffled off deciding,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That makes calamity of delay.
For would stealth bear the whips and scorns of time,
The lack of mission, the untried technology,
The great expense, the inevitable delays,
The excessive secrecy, and the cuts
That must be made for Gramm-Rudman target's sake.
When we ourselves might today stealth's termination make
With a bare majority. Who would new tax burdens bear,
To pay its $70 billion price tag,
When the dread of a turkey worse than B-1,
A flying bat-winged bomber whose cost per pound,
Is that of gold, puzzles the mind
And makes us rather keep those bombers that we now have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience should make cautious legislators of us all;
And thus the hue of B-2 boosterism
Must be replaced with the sober cast of thought,
And this enterprise of great pith and moment,
Be halted now before it further proceeds,
A handsome bomber yes, but better
Not to be.

-- Statement by Rep. Edward J. Markey, D-MA,
to the House of Representatives, against the B-2 stealth bomber, July 26.
