Today is the 12th anniversary that my American Flag was flown over the Iwo Jima War Memorial in commemoration of my career in the Marines. I retired at the end of August, 1992, and I requested my flag to be flown over the War Memorial on Flag Day and my command wondered why I had nor requested July 4th. I explained that I received an American Flag from Senator Thruston Morton when I was kid, and I received it on Flag Day, so it has always been important to me.
I just replaced my outdoor flag this morning with a new one in honor of Flag Day.

Thank you for your service Chieftain!
What a nice tribute to have your flag flown over the Iwo Jima War Memorial. I had no idea that they did that. Very special!
