As we all know the 40th President of the United States slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God Saturday June 5th. So feel free to post your pics, stories, etc. about the Gipper.

Etymology [Latin intrepidus : in-, not; trepidus, alarmed.]
My example: President Reagan in all of his intrepidness said "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" A few short years later the Berlin Wall was torn down. This memorable line would have never been uttered if President Reagan had listened to his advisors. His uncommon courage caused great things to happen. This courage was a natural extension of his faith in the American people and the Almighty. And to me that is the Reagan legacy.

they had another graduation party to go to, so after xshub and i went back to the hotel on Sat PM. xsSIL took xsteen, and the 2 xsnieces over to her friend's house, who was hosting a party for their departing foreign exchange student. Well while the parents were downstairs boozing, the kids were sneaking up and down the stairs drinking in the upstairs family room! one of the older xsniece's classmates invited her upstairs but said that mel and xsteen were too young, and so Beth went up and came back down and wouldn't tell either xsSIL or the other two girls what was up til they got to the car, sure that xsSIL would go NARCing them out to the mom, who is her friend. she was aghast and intends to inquire of her friend if she knew what was going on up there! xsteen said she and mel could have each walked out with a couple of bottles of liquor and no adult would have been the wiser. Parents are damn stupid.

very. but this is suburban OH, i am sure it is MUCH worse down here.
Careless, at least.....then again, that is pretty much the same thing.
xsSIL said she had no idea but xsteen told me that she (xsteen) KNEW what it was, despite Beth not saying, bc the kids were acting so suspicious. having alcohol for adults to drink when it is a kids party, is asking for abuse by kids. xsteen frankly thought it might be worse stuff going on upstairs.
When I graduated from HS my father bought a keg of beer.....and with parental permission everyone was permitted to indulge. Of course nearly everyone at the party lived on the same block and the parents of all my friends at the party were also there. Also except for my brother and some of his friends all the kids were 17 and above and the drinking age in NY was 18 at the time.
*Sigh*, all that stuff is rapidly approaching...or at least too rapidly for me.'

xsteen is judgmental, where did she get that i wonder??? and she has very low tolerance for clueless parents. if kids feel they can pull something over on you, they will not respect you, or anything that you say.
Why do I feel the need of a shower everytime I go near that website?????
unfortunately it does require that parents rethink the way they do things, bc you will be emulated, whether for good or bad.

I am still LMAO, bc everyone over here, WISHES our side would take that role, insteadof the reverse wish is actually the truth.
Hell, at this point I would appreciate it if our side would stop saying thank you afterwards. (Like by investigating Manuel Miranda, instead of exposing the contents of the memoes...)
Yup. Kids copy every behavior, whether good, or pathological, so it is best to instill the virtues, because ethe rest of the world does its damndest to instill their opposite number....
I agree about the drinking to excess at a kid's party.
OTOH I totally disagree with the idea of hiding adult activities from children...it only serves to make them further interested in experimenting.
When I was a teenager I never felt the need to join my friends off sneaking behind someone's garage with a pilferred bottle of booze or illegally purchased six pack.
Beer, wine and liquor were opennly drank in my house all my life.....and my parents' and grandparents' attitude was they would rather let us taste it in their presence than go sneaking off to do it and possibly get hurt.
And while I will not deny some stupid moments in my life, particularly when in college.....when I do drink I do so pretty responsibly.
