Word For The Day, Monday June 07, 2004 -- A Tribute to Ronald Reagan
6/7/04 | The Verbivores

Posted on 06/07/2004 4:40:33 AM PDT by NeoCaveman

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

As we all know the 40th President of the United States slipped the surly bonds of earth to touch the face of God Saturday June 5th. So feel free to post your pics, stories, etc. about the Gipper.

Today's word is one of many that could be chosen in his honor.

.

intrepid \ (n-trpd) \ adjective
intrepidity or intrepidness \ nouns
intrepidly \ adverb.

Deinition: Resolutely courageous; fearless.

Etymology [Latin intrepidus : in-, not; trepidus, alarmed.]

My example: President Reagan in all of his intrepidness said "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" A few short years later the Berlin Wall was torn down. This memorable line would have never been uttered if President Reagan had listened to his advisors. His uncommon courage caused great things to happen. This courage was a natural extension of his faith in the American people and the Almighty. And to me that is the Reagan legacy.

as a veteran of K graduations, let me say, you will love it. it is very cute. Though they switched it from evening, when xsteen and xsboy graduated K, to during the AM, when parents had to actually leave work to come and see it, for xsbrownie.

As a fellow resident of Virginia, I thought you might get a kick out the latest BS rantings from my Canadian stalker on another message board.

I'm not even going to respond

I haven't posted on that board in ages, and I have NEVER posted there as Gabz.

He has been permanently banned from FR and the other message board he mentions in his tirade........so I expect this is sour grapes. he posted a set of my postings from hre a week or so ago over on that board and had some not so nice things to say about FR and Jim Robinson in particular.

you will get back to me on the location of the insane wedding party, right? i know that Kauai has this area famous for weddings, bc when we were there about 14 years ago, we took the boat ride back to that area. it is open to the public, even if they are getting married there, i could go and snap a pic!

The awards ceremony for scholastic achievements was held during the day.......I was truly impressed with the number of parents and grandparents who had obviously taken the time off from work to attend.

xsniece graduated #20 out of her class of 300 graduates in OH. we were very proud of her. unfortunately, her friends all looked like what you would expect of a bunch of AP honors students, chubby, bespectacled or nerdlike. except for the lovely xsniece, but then, she wears contacts!

i am dead serious, we talked about it with our other niece, the sister of the grad afterwards and yes, that is the geek crowd, no doubt about it. i said, is donny a geek, he looked like he might be, and Mel said, UM... YEAH!!!!

oh the funniest thing happened with mel, though. I was upstairs with them in mel's room, it was mel and xsteen and lucius licked mel square in the mouth. and she said "oh Great, the only tongue action i have ever seen is with a DOG". and i quickly responded, i will tell YOUR DAD, he will be SO GLAD TO HEAR IT! mel is 14 years old! this better be the only tongue action she sees in a LONG while!

they only had a continental b'fast or i would have slipped him bacon! xsbro and xsSIL are pet-less and while we were back at their house after the party, xsSIL was eating a sandwich and put it on the floor to get up and do something and we noticed that xs2pup was chowing down on her chick salad sandwich! he wouldn't budge from her feet the rest of the evening!
