Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I guess it all depends on how spread out the city is.Could be! All large cities in Texas are spread out... San Antonio takes up all of Bexar county, for instance, and Austin is well on its way to doing the same for Travis county. Still, it's not unusual in Austin to drive past large undeveloped areas, nestled in between big shopping complexes, office buildings, and neighborhoods/apartment buildings.

What's the "G" for? Not Baylor! :-)
I don't think I'll need that one. Mine is an orange color - with a longhorn.

I've painted my fingernails now and then, but typing knocks chips off so quickly! And toes are just a pain. Usually I wear tennis shoes anyway.

he loves all the bookstores and restaurants and different cultural areasThat's it exactly! I love being able to choose between three different Italian restaurants (not to mention multiple American, Tex-Mex, and Chinese restaurants)... two different movie complexes (each with multiple screens)... two different bookstores (one of them a big Barnes & Noble)... a SuperWalmart, SuperTarget, or just a big ol' mall... all within 5 minutes drive of home.

I miss Threadgill's, Antone's and the Broken Spoke. Not to mention a number of other places that are no longer there. *snif*

Yep. To him, that's worth the trade-off. To me...I LIKE the fact that going places like that are a special treat...and that I don't have to deal with city traffic on a daily basis.
But I wouldn't mind living somewhere with a LITTLE more access to concerts. Just wish I could have both worlds...

Yep, Cheryl and Lynn used to live in that little subdivision just across 620 from you. Forgot what it's called. Just down toward the lake from 183 on the Cedar Park side of 620.

Mom update.
My sister just called. They've admitted my Mom to ICU. The EKG and the enzymes came back negative, so they don't know what is causing the pain. I'm on hold. They may move her to Roanoke tomorrow.
But, as it typical with my family, my stepdad had gone to Kentucky this morning to get a load of crap (flea market/crap store stuff). Does that every Tuesday either KY or NC. So my Mom drove herself to the ER.
My current thought is if I'm going anywhere tomorrow, it's Roanoke and not DC. But I'll wait to get more details.
Thanks for the continued prayers.
