You're like my Mother. There's only one way to sing and if you don't sing like that, you have no talent.

There are a lot of "singers" who "sing" like Fantasia pretends to sing. Aretha Franklin for instance. But the difference between Fantasia and Aretha Franklin is that Aretha Franklin can "sing." Fantasia can't.

It's not Fantasia's "style" that I can't stand. Its her voice. Jennifer Hudson had a similar "style" but Jennifer Hudson had a great voice to go along with it. Fantasia is all style and no substance.

Can you honestly tell me that you enjoy the sound of her grating nasaly voice? That you would pay money to hear that voice on your stereo?

Fantasia had the best voice. Period.

My son and I watch Extreme Makeover/House every week. I love it. Very family-oriented, and the one where they made a ballpark out of the backyard (and Tommy Lasorda showed up with a couple of players) made us tear up. And as Giants fans who enjoy the SF/LA rivalry, that's saying something. The looks on these kids' faces were incredible.

OK, I'm a tunafish for it, but there you go! :-)

Your pic does bring back memories! I'm still basking (and bragging) in the thought that WE were THERE!

Oh!

Those are pictures I took when we were going from the West Wing into the Press Room (the little room with the awning!) You come out of the "front door" of the West Wing and go down to that room to see where the press works.

And talk about a TRASH PIT.....it was utterly disgusting! The first thing you think when you walk in is "My gawd, clean that drape!" (The blue one behind the podium); they sit in a tiny space in old timey movie theater chair with their names on them on metal plates.

I'm walking a few rows back and I hear Carolinamom go, "Oh, here's Helen Thomas' seat -- and me without a tack!"

On the White House itself, the windows on the bottom are the State Dining Room; the oval one at the top is the center hall in the family living quarter, the one that they use for their living room; I am not positive, but I believe the top two windows on the right are the Bushs' bedroom.

My wife absolutely adored Fantasia's voice. The girl does indeed have pipes.

They like people who can't breath, that was Ruben's strength.

It's still hard to believe we were there; you cannot imagine how you feel when you look up and see the guys with guns; it really hits you that you're "that close" to a guy the whole world wants to do away with.

Ruben won't get much breath support until he loses a lot of weight (duh, I know.) And I like Ruben. But Clay has a complete package - he did a decent job MC-ing the Christmas special. I saw the concert when he was on tour with Kelly, and he really commanded the stage. He has grown considerably as a performer - even in his latest guest song on AI3, he *owned* the stage. He's got it. (I'm happy to see the cute-geeky kid I saw in the beginning of AI2 do so, so well.) And his singing technique, while not perfect, is pretty darn impressive.

Yes, that part, I can. It happened to me when I stepped out of a women's room at Busch stadium, on baseball's opening day. They weren't there when I went in, but when I came out, the whole corridor was swarmed. He was moving within the stadium and certain areas had to be secured. It was a cold splash of reality.
