Survey finds: Men with skinny wives/girlfriends more likely to stray

Curves are for keeps

May 14, 2004

MEN are more likely to stray if their partners are slim, a survey has found.

Men with skinny wives and girlfriends could be interested in appearance alone - and on the lookout for someone even more attractive.

In contrast, seven in 10 faithful men prefer their women size 16 or over.

The revelations will be little comfort to Victoria Beckham amid claims her husband David had an affair. The former Spice Girl, who captivated the footballer with her curves, has become much thinner since they married.

Nearly half of more than 1200 men questioned in the survey admitted cheating. Most of those had slim partners.

Sixty-four per cent of men with a partner under size 12 confessed to straying compared with 20 per cent of men with partners above size 12.

Seven in 10 of those with slim partners also said their lovers were too worried about appearance to enjoy sex. Eight out of 10 of those dating cuddlier companions said their love lives were "fantastic and uninhibited".

Heck, it's not me that puts the size labels on clothes!!!!

I just know what I've got in my wardrobe and the sizes range from 8 to 14 and they all fit just fine. I don't recall ever wearing anything smaller than an 8, and I still have clothes I bought in HS that I wear and my 25th reunion was last year.

That would be a really tough call, if for a dinner date, probably the size 16, because I believe in eating, not nibbleing.

Thank you my friend!!!!!

I'm actually rather proud of the fact that at 43 I can still wear clothes I bought when I was 16. But as far as I am concerned changes have been made in the sizing of women's' clothes. Don't even get me started on women's shoe sizes.......

Different people have different bone structures and overall builds, while muscle-to-fat ratio also plays into it, distorting the weight aspect.

I know that I look a good 10-15 pounds lighter than I am. Why? Because I work out and have more muscle than the average woman (a pound of muscle takes up a lot less space than a pound of fat, so I can look thinner while actually weighing more), and I have a curvier shape.

Therefore, my actual clothing size is larger than most people would assume that it is.

I just wrote the truth. :)

Women's shoes? I went shoe shopping the other day, and depending on the brand, I fit into everything from 5 to 6.5!

I envy you staying the same size. My size has gone up & down & back up again my whole adult life. I have a friend who is 65 & she can still wear clothes she has had since her children were small. She never gets rid of anything & has some fabulous things from years past.

Uh huh. People consistanly misunderestimate my weight by 75 to 100 lbs.

Big bones and weight lifting in HS and college, that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

And I fit into anything from 8-10 depending on the shoe.

I used to be able to walk into a store and grab any pair of shoe I liked without trying them on - not anymore.

When it comes to wearing jeans - I only buy men's. Those sizes are honest......waist/length. The unfortunate part of that for me is I always have to wear a belt because in order to get them over my hips, I have to up the waist size.

There are only two times in my life that I can think of where I had a major shift in my size, right after I got divorced, and 10 years later when I was pregnant. For that reason I never disparage anyone who has a problem maintaining a weight/size.

I know many people that consider me lucky, and I hated them years ago - because I wanted curves and boobs. I'm older now and realize they were right, I am lucky.

You don't know how I would adore seeing what is in your friend's closet!!!!!

Dress Sizes

Dress sizes are defined differently for the United States, the United Kingdom / Australia / New Zealand, and Europe.

The following table gives the equivalent dress sizes:

US UK
AU, NZ
Europe
6 8 38
8 10 40
10 12 42
12 14 44
14 16 46
16 18 48

Size 16 really isn't out of the ordinary. Twelve is better. The magazines, weight reducing ads & TV talk shows exaggerate. "I went from a size 12 to a 2..." Puleeze!

Twelve is average. Besides the clothing manufacturers do not standardize their clothing sizes. One 16 could be another's 12.

Weight/height is a better indicator.

Being 5'10 and 115 pounds kind of falls into the skinny category.....but I wear a size 12.

All of you wears a size 12?

They must be working 80 hour weeks to buy enough food to keep her happy.
