Nursing leaders today distanced themselves from saucy pictures of a scantily-clad "nurse" advertising lingerie.

Model Luci Victoria, the new face of Ann Summers, was pictured wearing a white nurse uniform, with bright red underwear peaking out.

Ann Summers is offering nurses a 25% discount on all its products tomorrow to mark International Nursing Day.

But the Royal College of Nursing was not impressed with the pictures, likening them to the stereotyped image of nurses in the Carry On films.

A spokeswoman said: "This Carry On image is out of touch with the reality of nursing today.

"It's old-fashioned.

"We're here to celebrate the real values of nursing on International Nursing Day."

The RCN Congress is currently taking place in Harrogate.

Most of the women in public that I recognize as lesbians, have straight short hair, are overweight, and yes they wear jeans and shirts that look like they could have been purchased in the men's dept. I worked with one who was thin, had short red hair, always wore a black bra, and rode a motorcycle. (She only likes girls though.)

I am seeing more of them in the health food store that I work at since we have started doing TV commercials. Health food stores seem to attract a small element of very strange people.
