The Guild 4-19-2004 Spirit of America
Spirit of America ^

Help Americans serving abroad assist people in need.

100% of your tax-deductible donation goes to these requests made by Americans serving abroad.

Read the story that inspired Spirit of America.

With bats, balls and gloves donated by their families and friends in the United States, American troops brought baseball to the children of Orgun-e, Afghanistan. Nazim, one of the local players, said, “I like to be a player, not a fighter.” Seeing the difference this made for the local kids Sergeant Jay Smith said, “It’s made me feel the best I ever felt in my life.” Smith also says that baseball and his unit’s other humanitarian activities “literally saved lives.”
Read why.

U.S. Marines Seek to Help Iraqi Children

The 1st Marine Division seeks school supplies, frisbees and soccer balls for Iraqi Kids.

The Marines want to help children like these and improve relations with Iraqis in the 'Sunni Triangle.'
Your donation will have an immediate impact.

$325 provides a supply kit for a classroom and its students.
$100 buys 110 flying discs ("Frisbees").

Any amount helps! Your donation is tax deductible.

YOU MIGHT BE A REDNECK IF... (2004 Version)

Your standard of living improves when you go camping.

Your prenuptial agreement mentions chickens.

You have jacked up your home to look for a dog.

You have a relative living in your garage.

Your neighbor has asked to borrow a quart of beer.

There is a belch on your answering machine greeting.

You have rebuilt a carburetor while sitting on the commode.

None of the tires on your van are the same size.

You hold the hood of your car with your head while you work on it.

Your idea of getting lucky is passing the emissions test.

Your town put the new garbage truck in the Christmas parade.

Your local beauty salon also fixes cars.

Your doghouse and your living room have the same shag carpet.

You've slow danced in the Waffle House.

Starting your car involves popping the hood.

Your garbage man is confused about what goes and what stays.

You whistle at women in church!

You actually wear shoes your dog brought home.

You've been in a fist fight at a yard sale.

You carry a fly swatter in the front seat of the car so you can reach
the kids in the back-seat.

Are you tired of all those mushy "friendship" poems that always sound good but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a "friendship" poem that really speaks to true friendship!

Friend,

When you are sad, ...I will get you drunk and help you plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.

When you are blue, ...I'll try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

When you smile, ...I'll know you finally got laid.

When you are scared, ...I will rag you about it every chance I get.

When you are worried, ...I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be and to quit whining.

When you are confused, ...I will use little words to explain.

When you are sick, ...stay the hell away from me until you're well again. I don't want whatever you have.

When you fall, .I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

This is my oath, ...I pledge 'til the end.
Why, you may ask? Because you're my friend!

Send this poem to ten of your closest friends and get depressed because you realize you only have 2 friends, and one of them is not speaking to you right now anyway.

Remember: A friend will help you move.
A really good friend will help you move a body.

What a sad commentary! Shrapnel in the left glut? There are quite a few "could haves" in that article.

I, too, will refrain from posting what I really think out of respect for our troops.

I had no idea when I wrote #152 that John Harris would have a front page article in the WashPost this morning

No need to be modest, we know all the DC jornos have you bookmarked on their favorites list. ;-)

Who but the effete use a word like "fop" anymore?!

Excuse my uneffetness, but I had to look up fop!

"It's a core part of their strategy; They're trying to pry him from the mainstream of the country," Democratic consultant Mandy Grunwald

Oh yeah, Johnny boy's been a real part of mainstream America all his life. Wonder why he's not motoring around the coast of America in his campaign boat?

All this picture needs is a little music... something like...

Bohemian Rhapsody...

I see a little silhouetto of a man Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango?!

More like "Gilligan's Island". __________________________________________________________ Fox has new video out of the town where that explosion happened in North Korea. Amazing. It looks like the south after the civil war.

Amazing video of N. Korea. So sad that blast was nine hours too late to include Kim Jong Il.

This lefty thinks Air America isn't funny.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton talks with Vanessa Kerry, daughter of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry on the Mall in Washington, Sunday, April 25, 2004, as tens of thousands of women gather for an abortion-rights rally and march. The rally, which focused on protecting women's reproductive rights, included men and women from across the country along with activists from nearly 60 countries (AP Photo/Lawrence Jackson)

On Fox News Sunday the panel was talking about Pat Tillman. All had nice things to say about his courage, his sacrifice and his refusal to be interviewed, etc.

Leave it to Juan to jump in and say to Fred: "Wouldn't you say he's more in the Kerry mode than the Bush mode?"

Everyone looked stunned...as they should. Fred said, "No...and I don't think Pat Tillman looked at it that way, either".

Juan can get it right from time to time, but mostly he just amazes me - he should stick with PBS.

If the AP says "tens of thousands" gathered for some leftwing/liberal gathering, I'm guessing the actual number was slightly under 10,000.

I saw that stupid out of place remark of Juan's today. Yesterday Margaret Carlson (Cap Gang) also compared Kerry's fantastic war record to W "joining the guard at a time when one joined the guard to get out of the military." Am sure that was on the memo on what to bring up on the talking shows.

Wish someone had said that Kerry only enlisted after he had been refused a deferment to study in France and that he joined the Navy "as many young men did to avoid being drafted into the Army".
