My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guides we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

They Did Not Stop
You tend to find your way downhill, as life knocks you about,
Down to a place from which you think theres really no way out.
Youve got your back against a rock, and all your choices hard,
And all your muscles scream that you cant go another yard.
Some think the answer then is to just give up and die,
But you wont know what you can do unless you make the try.
For every lauded hero who has made it to the top,
A hundred others fell in the attempt, but did not stop.
They did not stop for hunger. They did not stop for thirst.
They did not stop when fighting got to be the very worst.
They only stopped to rest a bit, when life itself ran out,
And gave a prayer with their last thought, and sent it with a shout.
Lord, do not take my soul right now, but keep it in the fight,
I havent done my utmost yet, to battle for the right.
I still have fierceness in me, a rage to do my part.
Please let me try to work it out, til love is in my heart.
Unseen by all, a loving hand, so gently lays him down,
And lovingly adjusts the volume of the noise thats all around.
Your battles done, it has been won, for now just take a rest,
For war is but a harvest, and Ive taken all the best.
And soon Ill bring a stop to it, and put all things to right,
And Im collecting soldiers for the glory of that fight.
Youve proved that you are one of them, and now youll join my ranks,
Of angels who do battle with much stronger things than tanks.
Well soon take on my enemies, called wickedness and greed,
And battle in the garden where all hatred is a weed.
Ill need some help with all of that, a person just like you.
Someone whos kind, someone whos fair, someone whos just. Like you.

For a long time, I've considered the beauty of the outdoors as "church"

Absolutely ,yes.
I have in my memory bank a place in the most beautiful woods on the land I grew up on.
It was a clearing, a large clearing with the sun beaming in and it's rays showering the area like the apse of a church.
The area was filled with wild flowers especially this time of the year.
I would hold court there among nature's little animals, and her dragonflies. All would be well for me in that place. I learned years later, it was my three brothers favorite place, too. It was a solace for the soul.

Yes, I did as a small child. It's beautiful there. It has been many years since I have been able to go there, the farm was sold.

When I was a kid my mother took me on a train trip. Also, in the 50s I was on a train coming from Indiana back to New York State.
As a kid I watch the puffer bellies while I was riding the school bus. The road and train tracks ran parallel.
Old black smoke just belching out of her stack. Loved it. So sad, we don't have many trains anymore.

Twilight's Barefoot Dancer
Twilight catches a barefoot dancer in long gathered skirts of satin a love dance clutching lace and velvet lighting me with your life and your desire soft in the tangled straw forgetting those bonds precious to you Barefoot, I withdraw to the book of barren kings
