My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guides we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

True.
Though at the moment I'm drawing a blank.
(Usually means it will make a showing in dreams.. so that it won't stick in my skull when I wake up!)

For some reason, we got lucky with the veggies last year as far as the deer. Nothing got messed with. Now, Petey's aunt was a different story. SHE was the one we had to worry about messing with the stuff. LOL!
I've wrestled with chickweed and henbit in the flower beds and can't seem to get rid of the stuff! I've yanked them out by the roots and ever'stuff. Can't spray with Round Up because of all the flowers. sheesh! A never-ending battle.
It'll be the same in the veggie garden, too.
It's almost ready for me to start planting the seeds. The tomatoes have already been started in seedling trays in the other house and will be ready soon for transplanting.
Last year, we were drowning at this time and this year, we're dry as all get-out. At least the garden is set up between two spigots that we can run long hoses from to water when necessary.
Roses do demand a lot of attention. Your wife's former mother-in-law is a lot braver than I am to grow them. LOL! I'm the "Black Death" to roses, unfortunately.

I seem to sometimes be blessed with roses.
(Though there have been some that were beyond my help. Others have made returns from seemingly beyond the grave..)
There's this little vine like weed that smells like a herb of one kind or another, has little horn shaped flowers on it, cerrated oval leaves.
And it makes me itch, though it's not supposed to.
Mira knows what it's called in Czech and German, but can't think of what it would be in English.
(The missus former mother in law is Czechoslovakian.)
Had ot get my hands on rotenone based rose dust for some stuff.
*ugh*
Using that stuff, you end up tasting it eventually, and getting a metallic taste in your mouth.
Yes, it can kill you, but it'll kill fish alot faster..

Shocking, isn't it?
Off on the great excursion tomorrow. Will have a chance to use some of the Treadhead Tuesday weapons in authentic cardboard combat.
What is left of my pride will report back upon my return :)

Rotenone is hard-core stuff! We had to use it on the potatoes last year to kill the potato beetles. Sevin wasn't working. But then, it kept raining so much, the Rotenone got washed off sooner than normal. Frustrating, to say the least.
Roses certainly take a special "something" that I don't have. LOL! I admire folks who can nurture them and keep their beauty flourishing.
Hubby came in a few minutes ago and wants supper. Some nerve, huh?! LOL! Guess I'd better head out.
It was great to "see" ya tonight!

Howdy Col.! Thank you.
Don't feel bad....you're apparently not the last to know. :-)
I'd thought hubby had offered to take me out for supper tonight to make up for forgetting but since we're still home........
He forgot last year, too, so it's no surprise. LOL!

Other than cats, I picture bats when Radu comes to mind. Must be all that night time activity.

Yup, the roteneone IS pretty heavy stuff, but some rose blights are hard to get rid of with the light and perfumy pyrethrin based stuff.
Roses are one of the hardest plants to read, you really can't tell if the discoloration on the canes is from a bug infestation, a fungus infection, it needs water, or it's just the normal discoloration of the cane prior to it becoming a thicker wood like stick.
