Hmmmmmm, Mo's not watching.... Should I funkle, or just start a new thread behind her back???
It's based on William Manchester's fantastic book of the same name.
Manchester was writing a 3 volume Biography of Curchill when he dies. This is the second volume. I hope they pick someone suitable to finish his notes for the 3rd volume.

If she whacks you, will you not bleed?

Don't know .. shall we try??
WHACK
I didn't know that .. I'll have to look for the first volume ..
It's pretty good and when looking at politics today compared to then .. many things sound familiar
How far along was he on his 3 volume?
(I didn't do it.)
I don't know. I think he had done the research, but had barely started on te writing.
Here are the first two volumes.

Westy, We had a beautiful weekend camping. No SPUTs at all. Our campsite was shady and overlooked the lake. Hubby was thrilled with his new BAL leveler. No more boards for us. I tried out my new firepit and it was great. In fact, I burnt the baked potatoes to a crisp by leaving them in the coals too long.
Not long after we had set up, a large group of college kids set up five tents across from us and broke out the beer. I just knew we would be in for a long night of loud partying. But, they kept their radio low and turned it off completely after 6:00. And no whoops or hollers from them, either. I was pleasantly amazed. LOL
We drove around the campgrounds and found a perfect site for a longer stay with the grandkids next week, a huge grassy one. I'd better get on the reservation site to grab it. I never thought I would see the day one could reserve sites in a state park on the internet.
I probably will break down and buy one or two squirrel proof feeders and try those. I wanted to add a couple more anyway. I will probably go for one of the spring loaded ones like you have and I am finding the ones that roll the little devils off pretty amusing too.
Mornin'. I hope you solve your squirrel problem. We have more of a proablem with the California scrub jays. They sometimes get to the tomatoes before I can get them off the vines. They are loud and aggressive. Then there are the pigeons. Don't get me started on the pigeons...
My husband woke me up this morning at 6:15, and for once, I'm glad he did. I was having a bizarre dream. In my dream, I had opened up the bottom drawer of my dresser where I had sweaters, and several mice jumped out. One of the cats, Baby, took off after them. I was P.O.'d and trying to clean up the mess, and heading out to buy D-Con. (I've heard D-Con works on pigeons, but we have too many desirable birds around here, like the California Quail). I really don't understand that dream, because I've never lived anywhere where I had mice in the house. Having house cats probably helps.
I've never had mouse problems with cats either, except a long time ago when I had Persians. I had to teach them to catch them. After that the problem was solved. LOL!
I enjoy the blue jays. they are contrary birds. Maybe I just identify with them. Also, they're not really a nuisance. Like I said before, things may change considerably when I put in a garden, but for now, I don't mind some of the extra critters, especially given the exotic bug populations around my yard. Nice to know there are lots of bug demolition birds about.
Glad to hear about the Squirrel Away. I should probably get some for my gardens if it keeps the chipmunks away.. Those little suckers dig holes everywhere. I don't have any problems with the squirrels and the bird feeders. Two of mine are on long poles, and the big open feeder has a squirrel guard.
Oh.. another thing.. you're not supposed to feed birds in the summer time.. Yeah I know.... I do too. I love to see the odd plants they bring in every year. This last year I think they brought in Goldenrod tho..:( Here I was, thanking the boids and it looks like it's going to be a nice big patch of sneeze stuff.. That's all I need.
I lost one of my feeders last year and one of my houses..and quite a few plants and bushes.
We need some good cold snowy winters. (while we're in FL.) heh heh heh...
Yessssssssss... I heard that part of the program too, and you're right, you'll never see him on any program but Fox.
Sounds like a very interesting book. ;)
Ya know, I guess I'm just annoyed in general this morning. I'd gotten a card from my phone company (SBC) alerting me to the fact that my "promotional rate" for long distance is expiring in the next 30-60 days. After that, the rate goes up tp $.07/minute, AND they tack a $2.00 monthly fee on my bill, just because they can, I guess. Looks like it's time to shop around again for another long distance provider. I found one at Newsmax (GTC) that I used in the past. At that time it was .05/minute, now they advertise 2.7 cents (how do you make that cent symbol?) per minute. The nerve! Tacking on a $2/month fee. Geeze. As if there aren't enough "fees" on my phone bill already. I'm getting closer to just switching to using my cell phone (my nephew does that), but I need the phone line for the FAX (for my husband's work) and the DSL.
Mornin Cali-girl. We have lots of Blue-Jays here too, and I hate it when they gang up and start squawking. They don't bother my plants or anything tho, just like to steal the others babies like the Crows do.
Both meat-eaters...
Well I got two more window curtains hung up.. Three more to go for the sunporch. I don't mind making the curtains, but I sure as heck hate washing all those small paned windows.
Have to let my daughter tackle my hair today, as it's a complete mess. I have a 12:30 appointment, so I guess I'll see if I can get some more work done on my curtains before I have to get out of here.
BBL.. hopefully all spiffed up and fluffy.. ;)
They are meat eaters - but I've also seen them climbing onto bird feeders meant for smaller birds and trying to get the seeds. I'm only assuming that they're the ones poking holes in the ripe tomatoes, I could be wrong.
