I'm sure the committee's conclusion about how to best help this woman and her children involved blaming Ronald Reagan for their plight.
Oh, I agree. When I was in high school, we only whispered about our classmates who MIGHT be making the beast with two backs. There were very, very few pregnancies, and it was something to be ashamed of. Now, it's something, apparently, to be proud of. My hair dresser had made a casual comment to me that gave me pause - her daughter had gotten pregnant (15 years old) and was going to leave school and be tutored until she could return to school. She said something along the lines of "All the OTHER pregnant girls didn't have to leave school until just before giving birth". All the OTHERS? For gawd's sake, just how many others were there? I know that they have day care at schools. Let's just make it easy for them, I guess. And most girls seem to be keeping their babies now, too, and many are raised by Grandma and Grandpa, while the little mother finishes school, dates, etc. Things sure have changed.
Rush Limbaugh was on fire yesterday and addressed that empty argument of giving kids condoms because they are going to have sex anyway. He said, then give them a cigarette afterward, and open up the liquor cabinet for them, too. They are going to smoke and drink anyway.
I say give them the answer keys to their tests, too -- they are just gonna cheat in school. It's so humiliating to cheat and still give a wrong answer.
If we cannot believe in the possibility, much less the probability, of virtuous children and youth, then let's all just give up right now.
It was during the Clinton years, but I'm sure that Billy Jeff wasn't blamed for anything.
Even if you don't buy into the promiscuity theory of the day, it is tough to try and raise virtuous kids in the current cultural environment when everything they see and hear around them sends them the message that their parents are wrong and that it is natural to express themselves sexually...apparently, in any way they choose and at any age. Mom and Dad don't even have to know about it and the law will help you dishonor and defy your them. I hate to think what it will be like for our children's children.
I'm awake, evil one.
Billy Graham's daughter:
"...I would say also for several years now Americans in a sense have shaken their fist at God and said, God, we want you out of our schools, our government, our business, we want you out of our marketplace. And God, who is a gentleman, has just quietly backed out of our national and political life, our public life. Removing his hand of blessing and protection. We need to turn to God first of all and say, God, we're sorry we have treated you this way and we invite you now to come into our national life. We put our trust in you. We have our trust in God on our coins, we need to practice it."

Without God in our country and in our lives; things will go very badly for us.
I think that the undermining of parents and their values that is going on now is just appalling. I don't have children, and I'm almost glad for it. I don't know how I'd deal with the schools and with all else that is going on.
Hollywood never misses an opportunity to inject its peculiar insights into a political campaign. Fortunately, if Sheen and Brolin are the best they can offer, most folks will see through the charade.
Oh, geeze, no, I never watch that cr*p. We were watching Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train" last night. I find myself watching more and more old movies. Guess I'm getting old...
*Smooch*
Private school or home schooling. Those are really the only options any more, and the government and the NEA are already trying to find ways to either outlaw them or bring them under government control.
No, the nominations were announced today on the morning news. The actual awards will be later. They will use them as a chance to make silly lefty political statements.
Several school board in Cal are making life miserable for home schoolers here. It seem that state law doesn't specifically authorize home schooling and there is some clause that home schoolers are using in order to homeschool their children. Some of the boards are saying that these families are misinterpreting the clause, and that the only way they can homeschool their children is to have a "certified" teacher teach them. I think - it's been quite awhile since I've read the articles, but the pressure is on.
I haven't been listening to the news this morning. I'm listening to the local right-wing hate-radio morning show. One of the hosts has rants that oughta be patented - nothing like a bit of acid with your breakfast!
I understand. I am listening on the web to Laura Ingraham out of an LA station (KRLA). She and Boortz (WSB) both have some pretty good information and rants to get the morning juices flowing.
Lee Rodgers and Melanie Morgan Morning Show They are on from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m., Pacific time. They also tend to have very interesting guest interviews, and Lee Rodgers is a good interviewer.
I'm going to have to write it down, I can never remember. What is B.L.O.A.T.? There is another one I see, also, and can never remember what it means - FMCDH - I think, along with BITS. I remember BITS, but can't remember the other.
