That's sick!

I mean what about HER right to have the child?

I mean isn't it a crime to "steal" or damage personal property, I'm not saying the child was property, he/she,s a human being. I'm just saying that they seem to care more about weather some inanimate object belonging to the mother is stolen than the unlawful KILLING of her child.

Is there anything about the FRENCH one would want to immulate???

PARIS (Reuters) - France's haute couture displays ended on Thursday with a small group of designers defiantly flying the flag for the ailing industry, which is drawing on an ever-shrinking pool of talent.

Now I understand Wellington Victory!

The real French left ages ago just the peasants are left or the salt of France.

As we become aware that certain citizens want to

THE KERRY-EDWARDS VISION OF AMERICA!
During the Middle Ages peasants did not belong to themselves. Everything they owned, their food, homes, and animals all belonged to the lord of the manor. Known as serfs, peasants were required to work for their lord and in return were allowed to farm their own piece of land. Many struggled to produce enough food to feed the families, much less fulfill the duties required of them from their lord. The peasants were not free to leave the manor and were required to ask for permission. To gain freedom a peasant had to save money for his own land or marry a free person.

Napoleon Bonaparte embraced Islam?

England's foe for many years has been France. The legacy remains as seen in the Capital of England, London, where monuments dedicated to defeats over France, are evident. The defeats have been most significant against that of when France was being ruled by Napoleon Bonaparte. (Nelson's Column, Trafelgar Square, Waterloo Station to name but a few.)

LOL!
True.
But for an artist with a clean sheet of paper, a graphite stub, and some spare time such fashion is begging to be sketched and lampooned.

I'm telling you, I have to bite my tongue really hard sometimes in that class. We do a lot of hypotheticals, and in one case today we were discussing an hispanic woman with 2 kids...boy 2 and girl 6 mos. Dad took off. She's having a hard time paying the bills and is upset because the 2 year old gets outside by himself and has temper tantrums. English is her second language. One guy in the class immediately starts listing off all the "free stuff" we can give her. This lady I was talking about wants the 2 year old evaluated by a therapist for his behavior "problems." I'm much more practical. I say we buy her and the kids a bus ticket back to Mexico. Needless to say, I get a few looks from those who are thoroughly indoctrinated in political correctness.

I always did rather enjoy rattling cages, but I also have to be kinda careful not to rattle the wrong ones.

I am curious as to how you ever became a social worker. You just don't seem to have the correct mindset to be one.

You don't know me very well. Actually, I very much like to work with people and help people and I also love kids. There are those who truly need help and there are also parents who aren't fit to be parents and never will be. I guess my focus is more on making people responsible for their own choices, but also helping them to realize that it is THEY who make those choices. I'm not one who is quick to meddle in somebody else's life or take kids away from their parents if it can possibly be avoided. However, I do have real problems with illegal aliens being able to get around the laws and access resources (often in the form of our tax dollars) that many Americans can't get. Don't misunderstand me. I'm not without compassion for them or their needs, but my compassion is limited when it comes to lawbreakers and those who selectively enforce the laws. There shouldn't be two sets of rules.

Yikes! It sounds like a nasty storm brewing. Might have to shut down for a bit.

Oh my, I can see now that you took my question as an insult, which I never intended. By "mindset", I meant the political and governmental one. You seem to be the exception from the social workers I have known, in that you evidently believe that not every problem is solved by money or a toll free hotline.

No, I didn't take it as an insult, just maybe a misunderstanding. As far as the political mindset, well, yeah I guess so, but there needs to be exceptions, don't you think?

I realize that there are people who are disadvantaged in many ways and who need help. For example, I have a family on my caseload who have 5 kids....the oldest is 18 and no longer living at home. The youngest is almost 1 year. The others are 5, 7 and 15. The dad works hard and the mom stays home with the kids. The parents are committed to one another and to the children. The 5 year old is severely disabled and requires special attention and care 24/7. She will never exceed the capabilities of a toddler. She may never be able to be potty trained. The family really needs access to some resources for this little girl, but because dad works and the family has some very modest resources (they are not well off by any stretch of the imagination) , the child doesn't qualify for SSI. It's a long story, but this is the kind of situation where you really see unfairness come into play. Here you have a family who are doing all the right things, and they are penalized for it. Then you get a deadbeat mom and/or dad who can't or won't hold down a job and are strung out on drugs and the kids are neglected, and the state rolls out the red carpet for them and gives them access to virtually anything available.

Don't get me wrong. A lot of times these kinds of parents need help, too, or at least to learn to help themselves so they have to have some options, at least for a limited time, but there is just a fundamental injustice in a system which rewards bad behavior and punishes good. These are the kinds of issues that really frustrate me.
