Hi, Loddy,
Tell me about that part of town..what is it like? They had a nice huge home in the Woodlands on a golf course. Only bad thing there were water moccassins..and a coral snake that got in the house one day...but the house and grounds were gorgeous.

My nephew works for Dell there in Austin and another works in a restaurant I think...

Aside from Houston and the Woodlands and Conroe and those parts I have been to San Antonio which is lovely and of course through the state towards El Paso lots of times. But while he is sweating out the rain and the humidity etc we enjoy a wonderful climate on the CA central coast where we don't need air conditioning and seldom need the heat in the winter...I told him yesterday to eat his heart out and he just laughed....

Cat Mountain is a relatively (last thirty years) new subdivision in the NW Hills part of Austin - read high $$$. If we ever get a snow or ice storm, bro will not be able to get to work due to the steep hills, driveways, etc.

I would bet ya that per square foot, his Austin home will cost more in taxes than in the Woodlands...people in Austin have never seen a bond election that they didn't love. Of course, having fifty thousand mush-heads at UT who have no idea how bonds are repaid doesn't hurt anything.

Come see us.

Where in Austin are you? I don't know if ol Bro knows about the bonds and taxes situation yet...but I think he can manage it. He is a lawyer and they got a condo in the Woodlands and just spent about 40G redoing the kitchen family room area. He and I and our other brother share a condo in the same complex so the kitchen needed doing. Said they got the supplies at Home Depot and a friend who is a contractor did the work for them. The house in Austin is I bet 4000 sqft..the one they sold was 6000 or there about. said the new digs are 30 years old and that the previous owner did lots of updating so they don't really have to do anything except maybe change paint colors or something simple like that which is nice. But the wife is changing the theme of the house from southwestern to tuscan...the condo stays southwesternish...he will keep is law office in Houston and thanks to cyberworld electronics can work from any place anymore...

Oh never mind. I guess you already did. You'll have to forgive me. My mind is on a timed delay lately....either that, or the gaps at the synapses are getting wider.

Well if you are just a few blocks away you are in a nice area then too..fiscally we ain't in his bracket either. But guess what? Houses in our area are going for a million plus..Ours would probably go close to 800K and we are only 2500 sqft..but we have the ocean view and half acre..a house up the steet went for 1.2 million last month and one is listed for 1.1 now and one across the hill is listed at 1.2. If we didn't get here 16 years ago we would not be here at all now..in the Middle Kingdom...

Would love to look you and yours up when we get to Austin for the first time....

I'm out of town, and on a very brittle connection.

Prolly won't be posting much.

Someone call me if the world ends. I'd hate to miss it...

Sounds great - the Welcome mat's out, CG.

Thank goodness CA had the good sense to pass Prop13 to keep folks in their homes...we do not have initiative and referendum here to protect us from the taxers and thieves.
